I like Jenerette, and would have supported her if Tim had not made the difficult decision to change to the 1st Congressional District. He knew that some would use this against him but so many people asked him to change because he could best serve the people of SC in Congress. I respect a person that realizes they took the wrong road and makes the course correction. People that support him believe the decision was made in good faith, those that do not support him won’t believe. Such is life.

I cant trust candidates that jump from one job description to another. They have a commitment problem. Though the perks and retirement plan are better for US seats than just lil ole SC seats. Jenerette was a Congressional Aide for Henry Brown and is the only one with experience at that level.

What has Thurmond done that Scott has not? Fourteen years on County Council vs service on City Council. Businessman vs lawyer. Name recognition made on record vs name recognition made by father. Who would be the symbolic candidate?

Looks like Sic Willie is on the Tim Scott payroll! Thurmond has earned his stripes to be elected to Congress. We need to grow the party with young energetic, talented people like Thurmond. What we don’t need is a symbolic figure so everyone feels good. I think the democratic party has tried that with our current president.

With as many crazy folks as there are out there and as dirty as SC politics can get, I and many others do not wish to be harassed anywhere but online where it belongs. We have lives (kind of, sort of, in my case) outside the internet and there’s no reason to engender prejudice among those we know in other capacities.

Besides which, if the “nom de plume” is consistently used then it should just be the ideas we’re judging and not the “who” and “how much” is behind the idea.

If you will read the “Federalist Papers,” you’ll find writings by the mysterious “Publius.” We know who Publius was now but their anonymity did not diminish the validity of their ideas. The fact of their anonymity actually made their ideas open to more open judgement without specific reference to their standing in society–a democratic ideal if there ever was one.

(By the way, Nancy, I’m typing this on my laptop as I’m sitting in my car parked outside of your house this very instant–JUST KIDDING!!!!)

I have known Tim Scott since he was a youngster and those of you that question his motives are way off base, but playing the pundit does make you seem smart. The really way off base person though is the one that won’t vote for Tim because Lindsey gave him an endorsement. I have been very vocal for a long time about taking Lindsey down a knotch and I would never let him dictate my vote for or against. I know that Tim Scott is an honest and truthful person and that many people have been asking him to run for Congress, my only regret is that he doesn’t live in the 6th Congressional District!

Are you saying because i dont appreciate Graham and his constant compromising of the Constitution that makes me like Obama? That is a really far stretch. You dont know much about our senior senator, clearly.I dont stick with party poly-tiks for the sake of “The Party”. My husband, the first President, warned against parties much like Jesus warned against religions.
Besides, don’t you know Dorchester County democrats campaigned for Graham?
Anyway, back to Tim Scott. I dont kow him, he might be a great guy, but his conference call endorsement, though not a formal one, is enough for me and a lot of folks to wonder what it is about Scott that Graham likes. If that makes him a man who will worry less about SC and more about other states, “THE PARTY” and foreign countries…no thanks. If Tim SCott can prove he isn’t a Grammie, I might listen.
