By FITSNews || On the same day that a S.C. House panel proposed shortening the school year and furloughing teachers, a Superintendent in one of the state’s poorest-performing rural districts resigned after being charged with corruption.
Dr. Nathaniel Miller is alleged to have ripped off Marion School District Two of $503,000 of taxpayer money, which he used to pay his mortgage as well as college tuition and rent for his children.
All this, obviously, on top of the six-figure salary he was drawing from the taxpayers for presiding over one of the worst school districts in the state.
From WMBF TV (NBC – Myrtle Beach):
Miller, 59, of Mullins (S.C.) surrendered to SLED agents in Richland County Friday and was charged with embezzlement of public funds. A grand jury set Miller’s bond at $75,000 during a noon hearing on Friday.
The board named Nancy Grice, the district’s director of curriculum and instruction, as acting superintendent while Miller was placed on paid administrative leave.
Wait … paid administrative leave? This guy ripped the district off of over half a million dollars and they put him on paid administrative leave?
Sheesh.

When you were arrested for Criminal Domestic Violence (CDV), did Sanfraud place you on paid administrative leave, or did you do the honorable thing: quit and plead guilty?
