Fundraiser To Benefit Britts

black tie

By FITSNews || While it’s nice to help out people who have lost everything in earthquake-ravaged Haiti, let’s also not forget that there are people among us who could also use a helping hand.

Take young S.C. Republican activist Nettie Britts, who was the victim of a savage attack last summer that left her with a fractured skull.

As part of the ongoing efforts to help Britts, one of teacher Kelly Payne’s “It Kids” forwarded us an invitation to a black tie event that’s being held in Britts’ honor (and for her benefit) next month in Greenville, S.C.

The event (which is actually black tie optional, meaning Sic Willie can go) will be held on February 6 at Augusta Manor in Greenville beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and sponsorships are $200.

Over my dead body-you may want to re-think the comment you posted. Nellie is a young lady who has dedicated most of life for the GOP and this state. Last year, her apartment was broken into while she was at home alone, she was attacked and basically left to die by her assailant. After an extensive hospital stay and recovery she is back at work. If you have ever attended a GOP quarterly meeting, odds are you would met Nellie and you would fully comprehend that your one line zinger is unwarranted, uncalled for, un-necessary and finally just plain rude.

PS-please allow me to echo the work and calls of Earl Capps and others around this state who have worked to help Nellie these last few months. This is a terrific opportunity for us to come together to help someone who has dedicated so much time and energy for the party, I encourage everyone to come out for Nellie, I can promise you she will be most appreciative…teg

“Dedicated most of her life to the GOP.” Child please. That doesn’t make her Mother Teresa, it makes her Ann Coulter at best. And OH wait a freakin’ minute… she’s suffered a terrible attack but now she needs everyones help. Isn’t that kinda like asking someone to pay her medical bills. Shouldn’t she have planned for this and had plenty of savings put away in her HSA for just this kind of thing. Her irresponsibility shouldn’t become our responsibility.
Now let’s be real. Of course she needs our help and our prayers. But the real effect of her plight will not open the eyes of most of those who rush to her side. They will still oppose health care reform and long term indigent care.
Let us know where contributions can be sent for those of us who wouldn’t care to attend.

I feel bad for her, and I hope her assailant is tracked down and made to pay dearly. I also feel bad for any number of people who’ve had misfortune fall them, this girl included. But working in politics doesn’t make someone more deserving of the money I earn. Nor does the fact that violence played more of a role than bad luck or genes. The possibility that I may have run across someone before in passing doesn’t do it either.

Now I will agree that my comments were cruel, callous, and uncaring. But thats the world we live in – and its the world this girl believes in. Just like 1 out of 7 American’s isn’t my problem – this girl isn’t any of ours.

We’re an individualist nation, and the girl who was attacked isn’t more important than the hungry child, the diabetic grandmother, the AIDs stricken street-person. I’m all for charity, but lets be honest how many of those people do we go out and help? How many are on this website getting contributions? Whens the last time those calling me scum made an effort to pick-up the downtrodden.

My sympathy doesn’t end or begin according to elephant posters; My checkbook doesn’t have a special memo for G.O.P. on it. Ultimately, helping this girl might be the right thing to do, but I shutter the day that I only care about human beings in a 50 foot radius of me and my personal interests.

Some of you people are really fucking sick. I said YOU REALLY FUCKING SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They’re not sticking up for her because she’s a Republican. Tehy’re sticking up for her because she’s a FRIEND. It’s no different than bikers or veterans helping their own.

If you want to make political points from this, go fuck yourselves. Totally fuck yourselves, and may the devil fuck your selfish asses in hell for being so cold and letting your politics get in the way.

    Barker,

Will the devil be climbing off your selfish ass in hell before he gets to me for all the coldness and politics you let get in your way of helping others.

I see nothing inherently wrong or evil in pointing out that the underpinning arguments against health care, which are widely ascribed to on this site, rely on a suck it up, not my problem, we all must be free to fail position.

Who provides for those without the benefit of a blog supporting them. Do you weep only for those who don’t weep for others. This isn’t about politics, I’ll even pray for this girl, but if ‘tough-titties’ is your motto until you get hurt, and its ‘please help me(my friends)’ and ‘tough-titties everyone else’ afterwards, don’t you call me selfish.

Human beings suffer day in and day out and if you’re to busy taking care only of you and yours, well than don’t bitch when people don’t feel sorry. Because if this girl’s good at her job, than plenty of people will be crushed by bills in the future. People without such compassionate friends as you, people who are fucked.

A young woman brutally attacked. Friends gathering to help her with whatever her needs are. There is no place for politics here. If you choose to give, do. If you don’t, please shut up. All my best for a continued recovery.
