By FITSNews || Former University of South Carolina wide receiver Sidney Rice caught three touchdown passes from Brett Favre to lead the Minnesota Vikings to their first playoff win in five years Sunday afternoon.
Rice had TD grabs of 47, 16 and 45 yards from Favre en route to Minnesota’s 34-3 evisceration of the Dallas Cowboys – a team which just a week earlier had broken a thirteen-year playoff drought with a 34-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Picked by Minnesota in the second round in 2007, Rice had a breakout year in 2009 as the “go-to” wide receiver for Favre – catching eighty-three passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns. During his stellar two-year career as a Gamecock, Rice caught 142 passes for 2,233 yards and a school-record 23 touchdowns.
After winning three Super Bowls in four years in the early 1990s, Dallas has gone 2-7 in the playoffs since – including two losses to Minnesota.
The Vikings will play the red hot New Orleans Saints next week for the NFC Championship, while Sic Willie’s beloved Indianapolis Colts will play the surprising New York Jets for the AFC title.

Reminder from my post on August 19, 2009:
“Guaranteed first round playoff bye….home field in the playoffs….now let’s see how good those former Gamecock receivers really are.”
Sorry I didn’t get it 100%.
Hint for those betting next week – the Vikes have ALWAYS demolished the Saints in the Sueprdome in the playoffs.
p.s…. thank you Cowboy “defense” for covering Sidney one-on-one (and none-on-one) with no topside help – BWWAAA HAAAAA HAAAAA

Wonder what Sidney’s senior year would have looked like…

don’t forget that the only reason the jets are even in the playoffs is because the Colts rested their players. We shall see if it comes back to bite them.
