Who’s “The Lady In Red?”

By FITSNews || Clearly, neither the FITS gals nor our founding editor, Sic Willie, received an invitation to Wednesday night’s gala celebration of the S.C. House “Republican” Caucus.

Apparently, all these years that we’ve spent (effectively) exposing the GOP’s hypocrisy on fiscal issues here in South Carolina have made us persona non gratis at such “high-brow” events.

Oh well, if we were on the invitation list to these guffaw-laced snoozers, we probably wouldn’t be doing our jobs, right?

Anyway, at last night’s big Caucus shindig – held at the ritzy downtown Columbia, S.C. Palmetto Club – sources tell FITS that the star attraction was a mysterious “lady in red.”

In fact, our phone lines and email inboxes were BLOWING UP Thursday morning asking us to positively identify the “new talent.”

We’ve gotten a few tips, but nothing conclusive thusfar …

UPDATE: While she’s not the mysterious “lady in red,” our founding editor did run into a gorgeous “lady in white” while visiting his favorite local pizza joint Wednesday. Va va voom, people! As a result, we’re rethinking our position on a certain retired WW II vessel that may or may not be sinking into Charleston Harbor right now.

UPDATE II: Unconfirmed initial reports are that the “lady in red” was lobbyist Ashley R. Batson, who was recently hired away from the Finkell Law Firm by Columbia lobbyist/ political consultant Larry Marchant. FITS readers will recall Batson as one of five finalists in our most recent “Hottest Lawyer” competition.

UPDATE III: Well, there’s a reason they call them “unconfirmed initial reports.” Looks like it wasn’t Batson …
