Taxpayer-Funded Adult Day Care Is Back!

The nation’s most backwards, backwoods, dirty-dealing and dysfunctional legislative body will gavel itself to order on Tuesday, the beginning of yet another painful, six-month goat show that should be more than sufficient to erode anyone’s faith in democracy … and the diversity of the gene pool.

The S.C. General Assembly – which has succeeded in running the Palmetto State into the ground on dozens of fronts for decades – kicks off yet another session of taxpayer violation, educational neglect and general governmental incompetence in Columbia, S.C. this week.  Already $100 million overdrawn from the previous fiscal year, facing over $300 million in budget cuts in the current fiscal year and confronting even larger revenue shortfalls for the fiscal year(s) to come, “Republicrats” claim they aren’t going to raise taxes to “plug the holes” in budgets past, present and future.

Unfortunately, they’re lying.

As we noted in our exclusive report Monday, S.C. lawmakers aren’t looking for things to cut or privatize (like they claim), they’re looking for “double secret” ways to raise taxes and fees without South Carolinians even knowing it.

Considering that government in the Palmetto State is already dramatically over-sized and over-priced, growing it makes no sense – particularly not now, at a time when taxpayers can least afford to shell out cash for tax or fee hikes.

And yet (as always) this legislative session will soon become about one thing – finding creative ways to reach deeper into taxpayers’ wallets despite the fact that income levels are flat and record numbers of South Carolinians remain unemployed.

We’ll have plenty of time to talk about all that, though.

For now, it appears as though Rep. Herb Kirsh (D – Clover) has been doing some finger-painting …

Adult day care implies that the lawmakers are adults…a fact that has not yet been established.
