S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford will not contest his wife’s petition for a divorce, a Lowcountry, S.C. television station is reporting.
According to WCIV TV 4 (ABC – Charleston, S.C.), the philandering Palmetto State governor submitted a one-page response to S.C. First Lady Jenny Sanford’s divorce petition in a Charleston County court on Friday.
In that document, the governor admits to cheating on his wife of twenty years and asks a judge to approve her request to dissolve their marriage.

Gov. Sanford mysteriously disappeared from the Palmetto State for five days in late June – Father’s Day weekend, to be precise. After lying about his whereabouts at first, Sanford eventually confessed to having an extramarital affair with his Latin lover, Maria Belen Chapur, a woman he later described as his “soul mate.” The governor also admitted to “crossing lines” with other women.
That embarrassing revelation led to heightened scrutiny of the governor’s administration and the uncovering of numerous violations of state ethics law. In one case, Sanford tacitly acknowledged wrongdoing by returning around $3,000 to the state treasury from a 2008 “economic development” trip that appears to have been set up specifically to facilitate a meeting with Chapur.
Sanford managed to avoid impeachment in large part due to political considerations surrounding this June’s Republican gubernatorial primary.
Mrs. Sanford publicly exited the Governor’s Mansion in August with the couple’s four children after attempts at reconciling the marriage proved fruitless. She then filed for divorce in December.
Her memoir, Staying True, will be released next month.

I know that Mark’s brothers flew Maria up for a secret visit a few months ago — that led to Jenny’s filing early. She was planning on waiting until his term was over to avoid the glare but changed her mind after her collective in-laws high-jinks with that crap.
I wonder if the Skil corp has any leg-breaking goombahs on the payroll. If so, they should make a visit to Mark and his brothers.
