Our Poles Are Rising … Again

Needless to say, we’re still ridonkulously upset today in light of the brazen contempt for football history that was displayed on Sunday by Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim “the perfect season has never been one of our goals” Caldwell.

Oh, and Colts’ President Bill “the perfect season was never an issue with us” Polian.

Seriously, screw both of those guys for spitting in the faces of their players and fans … to say nothing of the whole point of athletic competition.

Always try your best, kid … unless of course you’ve already clinched home field advantage.”

As 23-year fans of the organization (beginning in 1986 when the Colts were 0-13), the perfect season sure as hell was one of our goals. Plus, you win the Super Bowl by getting hot late in the season (which the Colts did in 2006).  You don’t win it by sitting starters and then watching them come out flat three weeks later against an inferior foe (which happened to the Colts in 2005 and 2007).

Seriously, Caldwell and Polian … are you both that dense?

Anyway, to take our minds off of how royally pissed we are over this debacle, we figured that Russian pole vaultress Yelena Isinbayeva was in order.

The current world record holder in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault (16′ 4″ and 16′ 6″, respectively), Isinbayeva was named the United States Sports Academy’s female athlete of the year for 2009. Yeah … Russians are apparently eligible for that award now.

What did we tell you people? America is going socialist all over the place …

Kidding, kidding …

Isinbayeva is no Allison Stokke, obviously … but other than Allison Stokke, who is?

Not bad, though. Not bad.

You play to win the game!

Agreed. The ultimate irony would be to have the Jets, with their new lease on life, come to town and upset the Colts in the playoffs. BTW, if the goal is really to keep people from getting hurt, I’m assuming the entire first string will be inactive for Sunday’s game in Buffalo?
