Pig Flu Kills 10,000 … In America

The H1N1 virus has killed 10,000 Americans, including 1,100 children.

The virus has also sent 213,000 Americans to the hospital and sickened as many as 50 million, according to the most recent data released by the Centers for Disease Control.

The scariest number? Nearly 85% of the country is still susceptible to the virus.

In response to the “pandemic,” the government has sent 85 million vaccines to state governments, many of which are offering it to anyone who wants it.

Children, pregnant women and the elderly are encouraged to get vaccinated.

    Will-

As evidenced by some of your prior posts, I get that you really don’t care that much for SC agriculture or agriculture in general but I thought that you should know that the misclassification of the H1N1 virus as “swine flu,” or as you entitled the above piece…”pig flu,” has really had a detrimental effect on the pork industry. And since everyone knows that your blog is followed world wide by millions of readers (per your constant boasts) I thought I should point out that the virus can not be contracted by consuming pork… which could be assumed by the above title and picture. Thanks.

    Russell-

Good points and thanks for contributing.

For the record, we love the “other white meat” and would eat it even if there was a risk of contracting the swine flu.

Also, we have no “beef” with South Carolina agriculture. We simply object to a state agency spending millions of dollars on a bogus ad campaign.

Ad campaign? I was referring to your context of “farmers” when you rail on my beloved Tigers…remember? But since you brought it up, what is the Dept. of Ag doing that Commerce isn’t? Or PRT for that matter? It’s economic development, pure and simple. Anyway, thanks for playing and K.L. sends her love…

I don’t believe it. I won’t get one of those shots. Neither will my wife of three children.

People, specially FITS, like to bitch about the government and the possibility of Government run health care. Flu shot and an H1N1 Shot are….guess what? Government run health care.

If you want to be stuck in the arm with something unknown…go ahead. Not me.

You just have to wonder whether Bunch-A’Dung refuses to wash his hands because all those commie health department posters (the paper ones) say we ought to.

I’m with Bunch of BS. There is too much disinformation. Furthermore, H1N1 is a combo, if I understand, of avian, seasonal, and swine flu. It’s also odd that Mexico, supposedly where it originated, culled very few of its swine population.

Sounds like some bio that got loose. How do 3 different strains of virus just happen to combine?

We should fear the military industrial complex running everything more than government and the vast numbers of terrorists our country hands businesses and American jobs to daily. I’ll wash my hands but no experimentals on me.
