Since government agencies apparently can’t say “Merry Christmas,” they send out cards saying “Happy Holidays” instead. Like this card from the S.C. Public Service Commission …

And as much as we’d love to be righteously indignant about our tax dollars going to pay for these ice skating penguins, it turns out that the individual Public Service Commissioners paid for these cards out of their own pockets.
“Even the stamps,” a spokeswoman for the agency said.
Well in that case “Merry Christmas.” Err, whatever …
UPDATE: Obviously, FITS will be keeping a vigilant eye during these “difficult budget times” (yeah right) in case there are any state agencies sending out Christmas cards on the taxpayer dime. We also encourage our readers to forward us any taxpayer-funded Christmas cards that they receive (we will block out addresses, etc., to preserve anonymity).
