Jessica Simpson is dating … Billy Corgan?
In the long and storied history of odd couples, this would certainly be one for the ages. Corgan is a brooding, emo alt-rock God from Chicago who we always pegged as a crumpet-eater and reader of manifestos. Simpson is … how do we say this … an “unrefined” little thang (well, not always so little) from Abilene, Texas who we always pegged for a yellow Labrador retriever.
Corgan founded the Smashing Pumpkins, people. Simpson is the girl who literally smashed pumpkins on your driveway … and then threw the pumpkin guts at you … or ate them.
Nontheless, from E! News:
What reportedly started off as a mere crush has turned into something a whole lot more.
“She has fallen hard and is smitten,” a source tells E! News of Jessica, adding that both she and 42-year-old Billy consider themselves “officially dating.”
Reps for both have yet to return calls for comments, but another source close to Jess says her inner circle is not exactly whistling a happy tune when it comes to this rumored hookup…
Nick Lachey … we can see him with Simpson.
John Mayer … okay, whatever. Sure.
Tony Romo … you know, you’d think that he and Simpson would be a match made in heaven but amazingly, no.
But Billy Corgan?
This is so confusing …
Ordinarily we’d take this opportunity to kick some old school Smashing Pumpkins (the music our founding editor was raised on), but in light of these developments we’re going to have to opt instead for a little Paula Abdul and M.C. Skat Cat.

This is ridiculous. We’re talking about a truly stupid bimbo and… Billy Corgan. He must be going through a hard time. How else could he actually endure hanging out with this chick? She wouldn’t even be capable of understanding the lyrics to his songs. She probably thinks “Tarantula” is his biggest hit.

My first reaction when I heard this was ‘Wow that’s pretty cool’ and I got kind of excited/happy for them? if that was true! haha and I’m a bigtime oldschool fan of the Smashing Pumpkins too. =O I must be kinda weird. Don’t really like pop music at all either. Jessica Simpson does not seem so bad idc, she is kinda cool!!Nice and real enough from what I can tell from the ‘tuna comment’. That could be a sign of intellegence? If I could spell that right it might help..but could be good balancing and stuff, I think he’s got his serious?/celebrity side/characteristics too and potential to mix well is there and bring him down to earth too when she may appear to be more like that?? Idk. Both have a sence of humor at least!!sheesh and the age ain’t nothing compared to a lot I’ve seen.
