Santorum To Stump With Barrett

santorum

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum will stump in South Carolina for U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett’s gubernatorial campaign, according to a release from Team Barrett.

The former Senator will appear with Barrett at stops in Bluffton, Rock Hill and Spartanburg, S.C. this week.

Assuming that listening to a pair of Republican windbags spout GOP-approved talking points is your thing, here is the complete itinerary for the Barrett-Santorum tour.

Santorum, who harbors delusions of a 2012 presidential campaign, lost his Senate seat by a landslide during the 2006 Democratic wave.  Obviously, he’s desperate for a South Carolina audience because stumping for Barrett would certainly appear to go against his previously-stated position on the TARP bailout – which Barrett originally opposed but then supported.

Interesting … maybe the two politicians could use this campaign tour as an opportunity to debate the pros and cons of the proposal, with Barrett arguing the pro-bailout position and Santorum arguing against it.

Anyway, Santorum is perhaps most famous for the way his last name has been co-opted by the homosexual community, a group he spent to a great deal of his political capital opposing.

What does “Santorum” mean to them?

Ewwww …

Nobody brings the votes like a guy that got blown out in 2006. Wonder if Senator “Man on Dog” has any special insights on Graham and Andre?

Santorum: “Gresham Barrett is a conservative who gets things done.”

How’s that for an oxymoron cubed.

Ah, the C-Street boys do love to hang out together, don’t they?

I wonder if anyone on here remembers when the Obama surrogates on the blogs, etc. were floating the rather specious story that Hillary Clinton was secretly a C-Streeter, and the loyal ObamaPods were actually buying it? Amazing how quickly they forgot all about that when she lost the nomination, and it NEVER comes up anymore …

Bet that as it may, IN BARRETT RELATED SCUMMY DEALING NEWS …

    LEST WE ALL FORGET:

    ///
… new life was breathed into a major S.C. campaign finance scandal when it was revealed Friday that the president of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce handed U.S. Congressman (and current Republican gubernatorial nominee) Gresham Barrett an envelope full of checks from a shady network of “shell” corporations. Barrett received $84,000 worth of contributions in an envelope handed to him by Chamber president Brad Dean – part of more than $320,000 doled out to public officials as alleged payback for their support of a tax hike that routed millions of dollars into the Chamber’s coffers.

The chairman of the Chamber’s board, Brant Branham, also acknowledged doling out contributions to local elected officials.

Previously, the Chamber had repeatedly denied having any connection to the suspicious funds – which were administered by a former Chamber board member and which many believe originated from the revenue created by the tax increase.

Does SANTORUM know all about this little pay-to-play scandal involving Gresham Barrett and the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce?

If so, do you think he’s gonna come down here with SGT. NO-CHIN so they can get their pictures taken with Brad Dean, Tom Rice, John Rhodes, Tom Leath, David Brittain and all the ChamberGate cohorts?

I think it would be SO special if they did. And these C-Street Christian Good Old Boys can pray together to save the heathen souls of that mouthy dot-head Nikki Haley and Will “yeah I hit that” Folks … and then have a good old-fashioned Come To Jesus meeting with all the good First Methodist fellows down here who were pointedly rebuked by their own pastor from the pulpit for all their dirty tricks and black ops in the last elections — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70zCPKN2Dic Maybe with all their power they can get that preacher audited or get him dosed real good on some dust and put him out in the middle of the swamp or something …

Coastal Campaign Finance Scam: Who’s Investigating?
    By FITSNews ||

An alleged “pay to play” scandal involving numerous Grand Strand politicians is on the verge of being swept completely under the rug, sources close to the various inquiries tell FITS.

In fact, the only agency still actively investigating the scandal is the S.C. State Ethics Commission, which lacks the authority to file criminal charges.

For those of you unfamiliar with this “alleged” scam, it all started last May when the Horry County legislative delegation pushed through a one cent sales tax hike on local residents – the proceeds of which are being handed over directly to the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

Yes, you read that right … a bunch of “Republican” lawmakers actually sponsored a tax increase that explicitly funnels money into the bank account of non-governmental entity.

    Why did they do that?

Well, according to numerous taxpayer advocates on the coast (and frankly, anyone who isn’t blind), they were paid handsomely to do so.

Specifically, these coastal lawmakers – along with U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett and several city council members – collectively received nearly $350,000 in campaign contributions from a shadowy network of “corporations.” Critics insist that these “corporations” were nothing more than cover for a slush fund administered by former Chamber Chairman, local attorney Shep Guyton.

It has also been alleged that the Chamber provided the funding for the donations, drawing against the estimated $18 million in tax revenue the scam is expected to generate.

Indeed, the Chamber had already begun to spend the revenue from this tax hike before it had even become law (guess that’s what happens when you know your votes are bought and paid for).

So … who are the lawmakers involved in this shadiness?

S.C. Reps. Thad Viers, Nelson Hardwick, George Hearn and Alan Clemmons.

    Oh, and Sen. Ray Cleary.

Checks were sent to Rep. Tracy Edge, but he declined them.

Among the most damaging allegations against each of these lawmakers is that nearly all of the approximately $350,000 was drawn as cashiers checks from the same bank – on the same day. Sources tell FITS the checks were even delivered to each politician in the same envelope.

Obviously, using multiple corporations to make donations to political candidates isn’t against the law. However, the Chamber could be in hot water if it were ultimately revealed as the funding source for the donations. As it stands now, though, the Chamber is sticking to its original story – namely that its leaders simply called “like-minded businesses” and asked them to support the tax hike.

    Mmmm-hmmm.
