post december 8

For those of you who are colorblind – or afflicted with chronic cocklaphobia (fear of hats) – we’d like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to our new holiday “flair.”  Specifically, we’ve got a delicious minty green background going on … and our founding editor’s sexy cartoon caricature has donned a Santa hat.

Hot, huh?

We wanted to spring for some holiday lights, too, but Sic refused.

“The power bill around here is high enough already,” he said.

Anyway, welcome to the latest semi-regular edition of the FITS Evening Post, our random assemblage of stories that we wanted to write about more extensively but for whatever reason didn’t get around to …

WORLD

BAGHDAD BLASTS – Two days after agreeing to hold national elections in March of 2010, the capital of Iraq was rocked by a series of coordinated bombing attacks that left 120 people dead and another 400 people injured. GOOD STUFF

ICE ICE BABY – A Chinese delivery man drove for 400 miles in the freezing cold with … get this … a cardboard windshield.  “Mr. Li” kept his eyes on the road by sticking his head out of the side window (turning his face purple) or peeping through holes in the cardboard.  No word yet on whether Vanilla Ice was in his eight-track …  (Ananova – read)

GRAHAM POLLING – U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham has a 43% approval rating among South Carolina voters, while 35% disapprove of the job he is doing.  Among Republicans, 46% approve of Graham’s performance, while 34% disapprove. That makes Graham one of only three U.S. Senators to have an approval rating of less than 50% within his own party.  Olympia Snowe of Maine and Ted Kaufman of Delaware are the others. I think the press surrounding CJ’s absence among the Heisman finalists is the best thing to happen in college recruiting–for any school that’s not Clempsun. Lane Kiffin to recruit: “Look at the amazing, record-breaking year CJ Spiller had, and he can’t even make it to NYC as a finalist! Had he been at a school with a football program in an actual conference, we’d all be saying Ingram Who? Are you sure you want to go to Clempsun and live in obscurity?”
