It’s The Most Wonderful Time …

watching bowls

Quick … it’s 8:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Do you know what your husband is doing?

Is he eating Santa’s cookies? Hanging stockings by the chimney with care?  Assembling something with lots of confusing plastic and metal parts?

Bzzzzzzz.  Wrong.

If he’s a true college football fan, he’ll be glued to ESPN as the Nevada Wolfpack take on the SMU Mustangs in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

And why wouldn’t he be?  This year marks the first time SMU has gone to a bowl game since it was hit with college football’s “Death Penalty” back in the 1980’s.  No real fan could possibly let a little quality time with the family get in the way of that kind of football history!

Obviously, we’re joking.  With a whopping 34 bowls on tap this year – and another two on the way over the next two seasons – it’s getting harder to find a reason to watch most of the games.

Seriously … 34 bowls = 68 teams.  With only 120 Division I-A teams out there, is a bowl invite really anything special anymore?

Anyway, in all its corporate-sponsored excess, here is the official 2009-10 College Bowl Schedule (all games are Eastern Standard Time) …

That game will be good June Jones and his return to the Big Island.
