Take Us Out To The Impeachment Game

The Importantville Impeachers and Buenos Aires Narcissists battled to a 6-6 tie in Game Whatever of the seemingly interminable 2009 Impeachment Series – an ongoing battle necessitated by S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s repeated refusal to resign from his largely ceremonial office.

Sanford was caught earlier this year violating an MLB (Major League Blowhard) prohibition against performance-enhancing travel practices. He also stands accused of several “ultimate line-crossings” as well as a series of excessively sappy post-affair confessionals.

This particular game – the second of this best-of-God-Only-knows series – was called in the bottom of the fifth inning due to inclement boredom.

For the Impeachers, cleanup hitter Rep. Greg Delleney got things started by driving in a pair of runs with an early dinger.

With a runner on first, Delleney connected on a nice, meaty fastball thrown right down the middle of the plate – specifically, the fact that there is currently no opinion from S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster regarding the permissibility of using taxpayer-funded planes for political purposes.

“There’s no Attorney General’s opinion because it’s so obvious you shouldn’t use the state plane for partisan events,” Delleney said, referring to Sanford’s use of the taxpayer-funded plane to attend Republican party events.

Sanford’s attorneys countered that none of the governor’s flights were for personal gain, and even if they were, they did not rise to the level of impeachment.

The governor did not bat for the Narcissists, choosing instead to remain in his luxury box seats while his lawyers took the field.

Leadoff attorney Butch Bowers was 3-for-5 with one strikeout and a triple. Center fielder Kevin Hall was 2-for-6 with three strikeouts and a double.

The Narcissists’ taxpayer-funded attorney, Fancypants, did not play.

One big-time whiff for the Narcissists came when they argued that the governor was entitled to use the state plane to fly to a birthday party for a campaign contributor because “governors do things like (that) all the time.”

Mmmm-hmmm.

The Impeachers lobbed mostly softballs, though, failing for the second straight game to break out the real “heat.”

At some point, the Impeachers will have to start asking questions surrounding Gov. Sanford’s 2008 trip to Buenos Aires, which appears to have been set up exclusively for the purpose of facilitating a romantic liaison between the governor and his Latin lover, Maria Belen Chapur.

The Importantville Impeachers should call on Gaylord Perry and his grease ball for this slimy bunch of Narcissists

Well placed sources have confirmed that Fits has been providing roids and other illegal performance enhancing substances to the Impeachers (fortunately they have not been working too well), and the scandal is about to explode in the tabloid press. In order to preempt the drama, the Impeachers have been required to forfeit, the Series has been called, and the Luv Guv has been declared the victor.

Great story and remarkably on the money. Legislators, Quit wasting money on this jerk for your own political gains! Let it go! Solve some real problems.

IMPEACH this idiot. He is so in our faces. We must get him out of office, or we will always be seen as mindless, puppets. He CAN not and does not lead. He CAN not and does not care one bit about any of us. Only himself. I am so ashamed of our state. We must act and now.

A shame game featuring the all star SC peanut gallery. No fouls, steals, whiffs, crackerjacks or dingers yet? Plenty of Bronx boos from my section for all the f’n incessant replays of y’alls and “I appreeeciate…”

So inflaming to see all our time and bucks wasted by and on Sanford and losers when all this could’ve been wrapped up by umps on a game ending delinquency vote months ago.

Thank Davis and Haley for affording their coach the initial free pass and friendly confines.

Why is everyone so upset about Sanford’s love affair that they want to impeach him? Why not lay off the man? It’s not as if he’s a Democrat. You may recall your most famous and beloved senator had an outside child in a relationship that was illegal in South Carolina until nearly the end of the last century. Nobody has made hay with that.
Yes, he was absent for a few days and nobody knew where he was. So was the previous commander-in-chief right after 9/11. Nobody knew where he was, either. To date, South Carolina has never, ever had any attack against it while Sanford has been in power. People who complain that he doesn’t care about any of his people are leaving themselves wide open to charges of wanting something for nothing. The philosophy of Republicans is to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and not depend on others for a handout. If he tried to make a jobs program, he’d be criticized as being socialist or communist. He would be called a tax and spend liberal. Because he’s behaving the way anyone would expect a politician to act, some people can’t accept that. It’s going to cost a lot more money to get rid of him and South Carolina is supposed to be a good and christian state with a reputation for churchgoing that is known throughout the whole country.

Romans 13: 1, 2: 1 ‘Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.’

Why do you want to go against someone who was ordained to be in power over the people of the state? Aren’t you afraid of offending G-d?

To santabarbara: Are you a believer in the C-Street philosophy? Sounds mighty like those folks who believe that no matter what they do, it is O.K., as God wanted them in that job and no one can remove them. ( This includes things like affairs, theft, murder, rape….) Read the book, The Family. And I do not see any reason to compare him to our President. They are worlds apart, and not in the Gov.’s favor.

It’s more about taxpayer money, Sanford paid back $3000 for a reason!!!

If all he did was have an affair, that would have probably been the end of it all.

However, who in the hell wants a Governor leading the state who would embarass his family nationally and desert his wife and sons on father’s day??!!!

That’s not mentioning his incompetence as a governor.

To Santabarbara: You must be on Sanford’s payroll(attorney or staff) or one of his close buddies that share the same fancies (women that share their scum lives). This Governor needed to be impeached last July or August. To all other SC legistators: Are you afraid he will reveal trash he has collected on you? Were you on one of his Maria or other scum trips? That is probably why Haley has not endorsed impeachment. She trys not to remember her trip to China flying 1st class with him. That is why she will never become governor. The rest of you should remember that even registered Republicans, as myself, are still waiting to see if you have the balls to impeach him so we can pay him his benefits and pension for the rest of his life. 2010 elections are on the calender…not long from now. We will not forget!!!!

BOYSMOM — you can’t register by party in SC. I doubt you vote. Dumbass.

Michael Bay — you lost me when you misspelled “capacity.” I suppose I am somewhat elitist when I read blog comments; I require a certain degree of intelligence. You don’t have it.

As C Street goes, so goes the State of South Carolina. Remember, it was the South Carolinians who have been at the feet of any Republican politician for many decades now. The only reason they went against McCain in 2000 was because his competitor in the primary wasn’t also falsely rumored to have had a half-black kid. There has never been any objection made about morality in the case of your most famous Senator’s daughter who’s mother wasn’t married. South Carolina has bitterly fought any attempt to remove the Confederate flag from any public property. How can they support the USA when they never accepted Appomattox? C Street is representative of the social mores of South Carolina. South Carolina is a conservative state upholding the values of the Old South. If Senator Thurmond had been revealed to have been the father of that woman who’s mother he wasn’t married to, would the people of South Carolina have demanded impeachment? Definitely not. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

To: Columbia Insider….I do vote and I am not a “dumbass” just an “old and inquisitive ass”. I have voted for about 40 years. I have voted Republican for many years but it is doubtful these next elections. All the bums need to be removed if they keep up their antics. I am sure you are a Sanford Staffer or close buddy who also has enjoyed trips to Argentina. Hope you enjoyed your trips as much as old Mark did.

If you misspell just one word you are a dumbass? How is that? What if you mistype a word because you are drunk? What does that make you? What if you are the world’s best golfer and you cheat on your wife, are you no longer the best golfer in the world? Help me out…
