You probably wouldn’t imagine an empty wall in a boring, bureaucratic hellhole as the ideal canvas for creative expression, but then again you probably wouldn’t imagine the large amount of free time that South Carolina Republicans have on their hands.
The S.C. House Republican Caucus – which houses its offices in the taxpayer-provided Blatt building on the S.C. State House grounds – is erecting a new monument to its RINOsity.
Originally described to us as the eighth wonder of the modern world, it turns out the “monument” is really nothing but a large, wall-mounted version of the new S.C. House GOP logo hung over a fresh coat of paint.
Commissioned by Majority Leader Kenny Bingham (RINO-Lexington), the new logo and wall-mount will be finished during the Christmas holidays, just in time to greet visitors when the legislative session opens in January. Originally, the design was to have been cast in a golden, metallic color, although sources tell FITS that this original concept has been dropped as “too ostentatious” given the current economic climate.
No taxpayer funds (that we know of) will be expended in the design and construction of the logo.
