The unknown computer hackers who raided the database of a globally-renowned British climate research center couldn’t have asked for a better haul …
In thousands of emails and documents dating back over a decade, some of the world’s foremost climatologists are exposed as petty, vindictive alarmists who are deliberately using fuzzy science to “trick” unsuspecting “idiots” on the issue of climate change.
The information was obtained from the database of the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, an institution that was embroiled in another recent scandal after it was forced to admit deleting much of its raw data.
Which is the first rule of science right?
Anyway, officials at the school have acknowledged the authenticity of the emails and documents, which have sparked a furor of the legitimacy of global warming.
The resulting dust-up could prove catastrophic to President Barack Obama (and U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham)’s efforts to impose a massive new energy tax here in America. It could also derail a global climate conference taking place under the auspices of the United Nations in Copenhagen next month.
One email lays bare the political calculation behind the “research” these “scientists” have been conducting.
“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t,” writes Kevin Trenberth, a climatologist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
Translation?
“Mr. President, we have a problem.”
Another email explains how to use a “trick” on a chart to “hide the decline” in global temperatures beginning in 1961.
Yet another features an influential member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) promising to “somehow” keep data out of a widely-cited report “even if if we have to redefine what the peer review literature is.”
We’ve always been iffy on the whole climate change thing, of course here in South Carolina, everyone knows that the best way to adopt a position on the issue is to simply take the current temperature …
After all, that’s what the head of the S.C. Wildlife Federation, Clinch Heyward, did … for realsies.

Statesman…..you need to do a little rersearch.Most reputible scientists in this field think this is all a scam.Name one credible scientist that has real facts and thinks this is true.All you hear is liberals stating a “fact” that the worlds 100 greatest scientists all agree on this..which is the first big bullshit lie.Then it gets worse from there.

A petition organized by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, which more than 31,000 scientists have signed, including more than 9,000 with Ph.D.s. The petition says, “There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate….Its a nice way of saying stop the total bullshit

Ouch at the misinformation in this article! Do some freakin fact checking before writing such drivel.
If you don’t think that the Earth is warming, have fun at explaining why 99% of the world’s glaciers are retreating, why all large-scale statistically credible analyses of the temperature record (at least in the journals I read; i.e., ones that include uncertainty margins in their calculations) show warming since 1850, etc. As for why we’re warming, we truly don’t know conclusively yet. But there is increasing evidence that CO_2 has a lot to do with it. Either way, I can assure you that global warming is not an evil concoction of any political party.
Also, please do not misquote Trenberth. I know the asshole quite well and he is simply saying that the last decade did not warm as much as the 1990s (which is true). He’s not saying thay haven’t warmed.
Please, please, do some fact checking before writing.

While global warming may be a scam (like Y2K), there is no denying that we need to stop cutting down the rainforests, take every measure to avoid oil spills, develop clean energy, and stop putting toxins in the environment.
Simply put, we need to take better care of the planet we call home and ourselves.
Many are pushing for nuclear energy, but considering Chernobyl & the risks of nuclear development, I don’t think it’s a wise option to pursue.

You know global warming chatter is all smoke and mirrors. Why? Because the believers never have any concise factual evidence. Show me a chart of the last 200 years worth of global temperatures. Put that chart on every article regarding global warming and it is the end of discussion. Carbon emissions have never been higher than the last 10 years. And yet the earth’s temperature has not risen. WTF?

Here’s a shocker- The Sun News (sister rag to la Socialista and equally silly/soon-to-be-irrelevant) runs a rambling, million-column inch piece on global warming top of the fold front page today. The story absolutely, unequivocally affirms that the “capital G” Global Warming ™ industry is fact. No alternate view, no mention of cooling trend in air temps, not even a “denial kook” reference. The reluctant story detailing the leaked/hacked memos? Page 15 down the right column, maybe 8 column-inches. I’m no “denial kook,” nor am I some conspiracy nut, but I am smart enough to see that this was part of a coordinated offensive/damage control piece with which the mainstream media was obviously complicit. Gotta get Cap and Trade/tax rammed through real quick-like before the lemmings figure this thing out! Anyone who believes that the media isn’t biased and agenda driven is the kook here.

There are almost as many lies as there are words in this post. No surprise coming from the fits crowd. Luckily, lies limp and are easily chased down and clubbed to death.
First, anyone who thinks global warming isn’t real is an idiot. Coming from people who think the world is 4,000 years old, that’s no surprise.
Second, liberty for whatever, those 30k “scientists” include anyone they could find with a BA in science or higher that was capable of using a pen. You know, not scientists. NASA, NOAA, the National Academy of Sciences, the majority of living Nobel Laureates, and pretty much the entire scientific community all agree that it exists. On your side you have Matt Drudge, Jurrassic Prick, the late Michael Crichton, and a handful of paid-for-scientists working for Exxon. Tough choice.
Lastly, the “trick” business has been totally debunked. Here are the scientists explaining it themselves. Warning, the word socialism is never used. Some posters here might want to stay clear.

2 cents, now you have LFM and I in rare agreement. Who built and ran Chernobyl? The Soviet Union. How much did they care about human life? I will give you an example. In the cold war Soviets Navy leaders were asked why they put so little personnel radiation shielding in their nuclear subs. They answers were cost, added weight, etc. When pressed as to their concern for the long term effects on their sailors, they replied Russian mothers are producing replacements every hour. Now contrast that with how many were killed at TMI. How many added deaths have been directly sourced to TMI? How many people are dying in France directly sourced to their nuckear industry? Want to have a huge decrease in death rates? Eliminate tobacco and alcohol. Think that will happen?

The Cap and Trade tax should be voluntary that way if we don’t buy into the bullshit we dont have to pay. Pat you could just send me $200 a month and I would turn my water heater off for 30 min a day if you want to feel like you are doing your part to stop global warming.
