Health Care Vote: Not Enough Passes
U.S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is said to have received roughly sixty written requests from House Democrats asking for permission to vote against a controversial socialized medicine proposal – or twenty more requests than she could handle.
That’s when a pitched battle allegedly began within Pelosi’s Democratic Caucus, with Pelosi using a mix of bribes and threats to cajole twenty reluctant Democrats into voting for the bill – which is the top domestic priority of U.S. President Barack Obama.
Obviously, Pelosi’s efforts paid off – as the House passed a version of Obama’s socialized medicine proposal earlier this month by a 220-215 vote. Had even three lawmakers switched sides, the $1.2 trillion (some say $2.6 trillion) measure would have gone down in defeat.
FITS is just beginning to gather all the details surrounding this scam, but our sources in Washington say that the arm-twisting behind closed doors was positively Nixonian, with pet projects, committee chairmanships and campaign commitments all leveraged to achieve the desired outcome.
Assuming the information we’re receiving from multiple, independent sources is correct, last week’s “historic” vote can now be viewed through a decidedly different lens. Apparently, had all Democrats voted the way they wanted to vote, the Pelosi-Obama socialized medicine bill would have been defeated by a healthy 235-200 margin.
Finally, FITS is informed that there is a South Carolina connection to this story – one that we will be following up on with special interest.
Stay tuned …

Heavens, I am appalled. Political arm-twisting and vote trading in Congress is entirely unprecedented, has never occurred in the Republican Party (which maintains party discipline with chocolate chip cookies and furry kittens), and is to be utterly deplored.

i’m sure that all those secret sources felt like FITSNews was the best outlet in the entire country to leak their story too. we won’t hold our breath while we wait for you to release something substantive.

Once upon a time, as a nurse I took care of a canadian gentleman experiencing a real ” heart attack” or myocardial infarction. He was admitted to a small hospital where I worked . We called CanCare. They refused his cardiac cath, which is standard care in the US of A.
He laid around in CCU for several days getting the standard blood thinner heparin and Nitroglycerin. Then CanCare sent a private fixed wing plane equipped with two nurses to take him back to Canada.
He wrote the staff in the small hospital where I worked about six months later. He said he had finally gotten his cardiac cath about two weeks before the letter. Of course, the muscle involved in the heart attack was dead by then.
True Story.

Mr Liberty (or is it Ms Liberty,
The Brits love their health care system. Even the top conservative calls it a national treasure. Shame the truth never reaches your ears!!!!!!!!!!
By Rebel on November 16th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Billy Bob, they absolutely do not. It is a national disgrace. Don’t you have a slingblade or something else to play with? You haven’t a clue. There are literally thousand of news stories of deplorable disgusting conditions in the NHS, reports, hearings, protests. Shame the truth never reaches your eyes!

Women get their first dose of Obama healthcare rationing under the new socialized Obamacare today. They have decided it best to delay mammograms until 50 years of age and then only perform every other year. Sure, more women will die of breast cancer but we will save money! This is a poor and woeful day for America! Boy wonder Obama will limit the rights of women to receive adequate care and screening for breast cancer. We must fight against this bill! Call your senator today!

Ynot,
Would CanCare have paid U.S. cost of the catheter or Canada’s cost? Do many American hospitals still charge $10 or $20 for an asprin, & what is Canada vs. U.S. cost of a heart catheter? What is the cost of the related procedure? Would America have sent a private plane with 2 nurses to pick up one of its citizens in a foreign country unless they were government or wealthy, not an average joe?
Since personal stories are being used, 3 months ago my chiropractic care was covered. Now it’s $35 per visit, unless I have an accident & injure my back. I have been hoping to avoid surgery, but so much for preventive care.
I went to the local ER for an asthma attack last year. They know my history, I told them I was having an asthma attack. A CAT Scan was done, much lab work, you name it. In the end, what did I receive? Antibiotics. I went to my doctor the next day, there was no infection found anywhere, & I got a breathing treatment, what I needed all along.
Two summers ago, my child bruised her elbow on a bouncy slide. Took my child to the same ER, they did Xrays, found my child had a fracture, put my child’s arm in a cast & sling. Later went to local orthopedic Dr., he did an Xray, and all he found was a sprain. In the trash went the cast & sling.
These are simple things to diagnose. How much did those 2 mistakes cost?
Concerning a very pressing issue, why are veterans having to fight for medical care & benefits, not to mention being lied to about certain ailments? No such thing as Gulf War Syndrome, correct? Until recently. Hell, we’re supposed to believe Iraq fired empty SCUDS? One also has to wonder what they’re being exposed to all over the world & the # we have overseas. What unknown diseases are they being exposed to? To top it off, they’re being sent to prison or committing suicide in large numbers or are homeless.
About the neglected field of Mental Health, how much is America paying for psychiatric hospitals to stay full? Why are they full? Talk to the patients. Many will tell horror stories of abuse they survived as children. Yet, no one really addresses the issue of child abuse. Many are vets. Billions of dollars are invested researching & marketing psychotropic drugs that many patients won’t take because they make them feel worse or the side effects are unbearable or they simply can’t afford the meds.
On this issue, or any other, all I see from the majority of government is spin & lies. Our country is circling the drain and all there is in response is spin & arguing about healthcare or other issues? It’s who’s gay, who’s a drunk, who’s smoking weed, who’s zooming who, what they’re wearing. Who gives a d***? Just run the country right & that is sufficient.
And the last thing decent folks want to see any politcos engage in is smoking crack, molesting kids, taking barely-legal girls to graveyards for sex, flying to foreign countries for trysts on the taxpayer’s money with a “soul mate”, spend millions campaigning, and all such related sicko acts we have seen them do or confess to doing. God, when will enough be enough already?
In closing, why is our government bringing in so many foreign workers in healthcare & other fields?
I’m not promoting racism or cultural egocentricity, but why is our government doing this? These foreigners are here because they get paid & get healthcare. Can Americans go in droves to their countries & get jobs & healthcare? Hell no, unless we have much money to spend or a PhD.
Worst of all, the taxpayers pay for the salaries & care of what is very much a foreign workforce. When we “protesteth too much”, we get carried out of a room or locked up.
Perhaps Americans need to pick up the writings of Patrick Henry or Thomas Paine or that great American document so many risked & lost so much for called the Constitution. I would question how readable the Constitution is anymore, considering the degree to which it’s been trampled on.

Stop this health care nonsense. No one cares about health care. Fake issue to distract people from the fact Obama has never shown any birth certificate and never proven he’s legally president. Not my president! Cant just waltz in here from Kenya and trick the nation likethat. When the truth is revealed, IMPEACH OBAMA and put dems on trial for treason ifthey knew about it.

No Way: useless screenings are a waste of money.
How bout all those normal colonoscopies?
How bout the heart work up that lasts all day and then gives incomplete results? You getcha a heart cath then. Total cost of finding out you are normal equals about 10 grand.
What are we getting for our money?
Nothing is the answer.
Treat sick people and stop screening well people for dollars.
By No Way! on November 17th, 2009 at 8:15 am
Ynot,
You do realize that Obama’s plan is to treat the well through screening (and less of it) while not treating the ill but rather letting them die.
