Lindsey Graham To Pentagon?

pentagon

As U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates grows increasingly frustrated and disillusioned with his role as a Republican in a socialist administration, speculation in Washington D.C. is turning toward who might replace Gates when he steps down – which could happen as soon as next year.

Who’s on that list?

Believe it or not, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (RINO-S.C.), who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee and is a member of the S.C. Air National Guard.  Graham is said to covet the top Pentagon position, and sources tell FITS that President Barack Obama may actually give it to him as a reward for his servility and acquiescence on numerous critical votes.

Most recently, Graham has endorsed a controversial energy tax hike – one that could cost the average American family as much as $4,000 a year in additional energy costs, according to Obama’s own Treasury Department.

As reported on FITS ( here, here and here), some of the nation’s most liberal funding groups have come to Graham’s defense on the issue – while South Carolina Republicans (even moderate Coastal ones) are once again furious at another betrayal of their beliefs.

Graham advisors maintain that his partnership with Obama and liberal Sen. John Kerry on this “Cap & Tax” bill is designed to “give South Carolina a seat at the table” when it comes to the issue of nuclear power.

Looks like that excuse could be nothing but a smokescreen for Graham’s ambition …

Wow, so our Governor could then be free to appoint a (himself) Senator?

Let me guess, does this happen before or after impeachment? If before, can McConnell sidestep a Sanford self appointment to the US Senate fast enough to hop back to pro tem as a pro tem moves to the vacated LtGov?

I personally like the ring of Senator Condon, but Senator Sanford would be the backhanded gesture deserved in Columbia.

Senator Tim Scott would be kinda cool too or how about a National Executive Committeeman appointed to that spot, Jimbo Clyburn would look like small taters then.

Obama misled the electorate by saying he was going to get out of Iraq. Now he is going to increase troops in Afghanistan and is leaning towards putting in one of the biggest neocon war-mongers for his DOD chief. The industrial military complex must get an erection out of this news. As will the “don’t ask don’t tell” crowd.

Looks to me like your absurd contention that Graham is a candidate for Sec. of Defense is just being used to give you a headline so that you can attack the Senator for his stand on Cap and Trade. Fits’”sources”= Fits’”imagination”.

Actually, the conspiracy theory at work here is much simpler than that. The sooner we can find Lindsey another job, the sooner we get him THE FUCK out of South Carolina.

    Fits,
Graham has been in Washington and out of SC for going on thirteen years now. Think how much better off the state would have been if Mark Sanford had stayed in Congress and out of the Governor’s Mansion. And now, God help us, we have another failed Congressman in Gresham Barrett who wants to come home and be governor. To paraphrase the inimitable Lyndon Johnson, “Would you rather have them inside the tent pissing out, or outside the tent pissing in?” Helluva choice…

I remember hearing about this intention of his on the grapevine several months ago.

I’m sure the “grapevine” was just serving his purpose of floating a trial balloon but, hey, it’s for a GREAT cause–getting that traitor out of the U.S. Senate and into a position where he can do little harm!

Gates will be leaving soon if what he said upon taking the job and the past behavior of other such appointees is any indication.

If Graham gets the position and stays as SecDef and does not go for president in 2012, it will be interesting to see whom he supports for president since he’ll want to also stay in power. Then again, I can easily imagine his endorsing Obama.

The only downside to the SecDef appointment will be that Graham will use his executive branch experience to run for president–which is fine by me! Let him go for it! (As if he has a prayer!)

What is wrong with you people?

South Carolina has been under republican rule for 30+ years and what does our state have to show for it? Not a fucking thing! We are last in just about everything and you “conservatives” want more? Give me a fucking break. Why don’t you tards open your eyes and comprehend that republicans look at you as an expendable commodity and when they are done with you they will throw you away.

Come to think of it those who would put an idiot like Graham and Wilson in office to begin with deserve what they get. No wonder this state is the laughing stock of the nation, the voters are to ignorant to think for themselves. They get their news from this type of partisan sorry excuse for political commentary. You idiots are barely one step above Mexico and you are fighting to be just like them. Good for labor and a place to dump their toxic waste. Suit yourselves dumb fucks.

New Yorkers have a joke about their trainloads of garbage headed to SC (Lee County landfill I believe). “We were going to ship all our garbage to Haiti, but South Carolina underbid them.” That is the national view of red red red South Carolina, where conservatism ever holds sway. Third world.
