Gossip Girl Threesome: Ratio Is Wrong

gossip girl threesome

We’ve never watched the CW television program Gossip Girl

Reason one?  What the hell is a CW?  We’ve never even heard of that network.  Reason two?  We neither are nor do we have (not yet, at least) twelve-year-old girls.

Anyway, social conservatives across the country are up in arms over the show – which boldly advertised the fact that a threesome will be going down during its next episode, set to air Monday evening at 9:00 p.m.

How “up in arms?”

They’re calling on local affiliates to pull the plug on the show.

“Because this is not a cable-only show, the content travels on public airwaves,” said Oran P. Smith, President of the S.C. Palmetto Family Council.  “We are calling on the seven (7) CW affiliates broadcasting into South Carolina to respect decency and South Carolina values by finding something else to run on Monday night at 9:00 p.m.”

Here’s the promo that’s got everybody’s panties in a wad …

“Gossip Girl” follows the lives of young, privileged socialites in New York City. In its third season, the show’s ratings have been sagging lately, thus the controversial script.

Here at FITS, we’re not overly concerned by the notion of a threesome.  Frankly, “been there, done that (editor’s note: liked that).”

Of course, we wholeheartedly concur with the Palmetto Family crowd’s call for a boycott.

How come?

“Two dudes,” people … this “threesome” is supposed to include two dudes, which is a direct violation of our strictly-enforced “one penis per sex scene” rule.

I admit it; I’m over 30 and love this show. Why is step-in now? Where were they when the show’s characters were doing cocaine, losing their virginity in the back of a limo, ordering an array of hookers, and running a speakeasy – while in high school? It looks as though they are late to the party on this one.

Actually, it’s going to be a two girls and one guy threesome (The middle option with Hilary Duff, lol). So I think you can rescind that call for boycott now.

The Palmetto Family Council and other groups who are expressing their “outrage” aren’t to bright with this latest campaign. All they have accomplished is ensuring this will be one of the most watched episodes in the history of the show. (I knew nothing of the upcoming episode until I read this article).

Even if they were to accomplish a few blackouts… their kids will still watch the episode on their computers (many probably were to begin with). If someone is so impressionable to run out and have a threesome after seeing it one the show, the parents have a lot bigger issues to worry about. And if this show has so much control over its viewer, then the arguement may not well thought out anyway…….I’m in the show’s 18-30 target demo and although I am not a regular viewer, I have watched enough episodes (and of similar shows) to know that their is usually some consquence to follow many of the “bad choices” the characters make.

I am not against looking at macro-type issues dealing with media programing- (although more so with the impact de-sensitivity towards certain types of violence may have)…

that said, these individual cherry picked campaigns highlight nothing more than the various watch-groups unintelligent understanding of how to accomplish their underlying goals.

(After reading this article, I searched online an read that it will be 2 girls, 1 guy….. so the editor may want to change their mind on whether or not to tune in!)

Funny, I read how liberals all want the government to control everybodys
life, but it is always the conservative bible thumpers who want to pressure station owners to ban anything they object to. Oran needs to get a life.

I hope its two girls and one guy…no one wants to see a swordfight.

I’m a fan and am expressing my outrage for multiple reasons now. First, it just proved the plots of the show are all about Dan and his family of unfortunates, not to mention this is the second time someone’s received a text that changes everything while he is in the amidst of sleeping with them (really original). Secondly, it was actually just really, really awkward. And I mean really awkward. Which leads us to #1, desperate. I thought this might tie into the plot, but it just so happens that they had to select the dumbest possible way to bring this about. Needless to say, once my iTunes pass ends, so does my viewing of the show.
