weezer

Los Angeles-based rock band Weezer has a new album out, which the Federal Trade Commission now requires us to inform you we will be receiving a free copy of in the mail.  Perhaps even from Rivers Cuomo himself.  Or maybe Elisa Cuthbert.

Because that’s just how we roll.

Anyway the album, entitled Raditude, is the band’s seventh and second in as many years.  It includes the single “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To,” which you can check out right here, right now …

Now that we’ve earned our free CD (we think), we’d like to clear the air on a few things …

First of all, we love Weezer.  Can we just say that?  We even loved them back when they were Weeze.

“Buddy Holly,” “Hash Pipe,” “Perfect Situation,” “Beverly Hills,” are you kidding us?

We absolutely friggin’ love ‘em.

And we’re not just saying that because they’re giving us a free CD (which we’ll probably just give away), we love them because we got the blue album back in 1992 and it rocked.  And all the other Weezer albums we bought after that (well except for Pinkerton) rocked, too.

In fact, back when our founding editor was a make believe rock star his band covered “My Name Is Jonas.”

Because they rocked, too.

So to the Federal Trade Commission, whose ridiculous new regulations require the disclosure of this information, please accept this (approved) message from our founding editor …

This is where you pucker up and kiss my ass. sound bite

Oh yeah … if you’re interested in seeing Weezer play live, the good folks at T-Mobile (who we lamentably don’t use for our wireless needs) are sponsoring a competition among colleges and universities on their Facebook page.

The school with the biggest “CLIQ” will win a live performance from Weezer … and up to $25,000 in cash (or $1 for every vote).

So put your “hash pipe” down for a minute and head over to the T-Mobile Facebook page to “CLIQ” away …

Except Pinkerton? What are you on? We all know it is their best album.

Mr. Sic Willie, can you tell me how you did the cool click on message?

Screw the message thing. I want to know how FITS got Weezer’s first album in ‘92 when it wasn’t released until ‘94. The time travel thing must be awesome! And when did they go by Weeze?
