Norman Returned To SC State House

Republican Ralph Norman – one of the few reliable fiscal conservatives ever to serve in the S.C. General Assembly – will be returning to his old stomping grounds in 2010, replacing a liberal Republican who consistently voted against the best interests of South Carolina taxpayers.

Norman handily defeated Democrat Kathy Cantrell in a special State House election Tuesday for the House District 48 seat, which was vacated earlier this year by RINO Rep. Carl Gullick.

That means a two-vote swing at the S.C. State House in favor of limited government and lower taxes.

Norman called his win a “microcosm of what’s happening all over the country,” referring to Republican victories Tuesday in New Jersey and Virginia.

The Rock Hill, S.C. real estate developer received 71% of the vote against Cantrell – which is roughly the same margin of victory he enjoyed over RINO challenger Roger Costner in a Republican primary election six weeks ago.

FITS endorsed Norman in that primary, while the local McClatchy-owned newspaper, the Rock Hill Herald, endorsed Costner.

Norman gave up this seat in 2006 to mount an ill-fated Congressional challenge against U.S. Rep. John Spratt, who is being challenged in the upcoming 2010 election by S.C. Senator Mick Mulvaney.

Ralph Norman also endorsed Alan Wilson, Kelly Payne, Mick Mulvaney, and Ken Ard tonight. I wonder where he stands in the Governor’s race?

Is this the same Ralph Norman that threatened to block funding for an interchange project unless the City of Rock Hill landscaped it in a way that benefited his adjacent property. Couldn’t be. A real conservative would never try to profit from taxpayer money.

Actually I think this is the same Ralph Norman who had illegal aliens working for his development company’s while campaigning that illegal aliens were destroying the country by taking American jobs and flooding our hospital emergency rooms. But now that I think of it I guess reliable conservatives see no problem with exploiting an underclass while vilifying them. I guess that’s just good business.

It is the same.
Norman did very little to campaign. Kathy Cantrell’s husband came to my door one day.
He’s not long for the seat. If Mick Mulvaney does not win, and he shouldn’t, than Norman is going to challenge Spratt in three years.
Mr. true Fiscal Conservative did jack squat his first term in the S.C. House. If he accomplishes one thing, he will have exceeded expectations.

I think the only thing this guy has accomplished is his support of the ugly Rock Hill “entry” points off I-77. One of his pushes while he “visited” the legislature last time was to urge support of prettying up the Rock Hill area on/off ramps. If you like government that wastes money like this, then you’ll love this guy.
