Hallowonka!
In what’s become an annual tradition for our founding editor and his family, we headed over to the EdVenture Children’s Museum earlier this week for “Hallowonka,” the Museum’s annual three-day Halloween celebration.
Along with “Boo at the Zoo,” sponsored by the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, “Hallowonka” is hands-down one of the best family events of fall season – and one of many reasons why we became members of the Museum last year.
This was our second trip to the festival (which is in its fourth year), and thankfully this time he refrained from excessive MILF harassment or irrational requests of the balloon man (last year he demanded a replica of Fenway Park … to scale).
As always, “Hallowonka” was packed with fun and food for adults and children alike, as well as seasonal arts, crafts and exercises to keep the kids entertained.
This, of course, is in addition to all of EdVenture’s standard exhibits and attractions – like Eddie, the forty-foot-tall, molded plastic “child” that is large enough for kids and certain “adults” to play inside.
The festival also featured a rockin’ band, Oompa Loompa Arts & Crafts, a Cake Walk, a Nerd Toss, Pixy Stix Art and candy sculptures from local students.
As great as “Hallowonka” is, though, the real reasons to join EdVenture (only $130 a year for unlimited access and all sorts of goodies) are those inevitable rainy Spring days – and freezing Winter afternoons – when your kids have unlimited stores of pent-up energy and absolutely nowhere to go to “get the sillies out” of their systems.
Yeah … those are the days when you’ll thank yourself for making this worthwhile investment in your sanity.

Sometimes partially reliable unnamed sources have been heard to mumble that this is not the first time sic(k) willie has received “an extra cup of the chocolate goodness.”
It’s not clear if visits to “clubs” or “lap dances” count.
