To hear liberal lobbyist Dwight Drake tell it, he’s the guy who brought BMW to South Carolina back in the early 1990′s.
At least that’s the spin coming out of his gubernatorial campaign.
Less than an hour after aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced its decision to locate a new plant in North Charleston, Drake was at it again – touting his “leadership role” in landing the new business.
“I am proud to have played a leadership role earlier this year in assembling a bipartisan coalition in the legislature to pass legislation opening the door for Boeing’s expansion,” Drake said in a statement from his campaign.
Are you kidding us? Is this guy for real?
Next thing you know it will be Dwight Drake – not Al Gore – who invented the Internet …

What’s this about the tooth fairy?
By Calhoun Fawls October 28, 2009 at 11:47 pm
Drake had about as much to do with the deal as Mark Sanford.

Sorry… forgot to say great post – can’t wait to read your next one!

It is true that Drake was important to Boeing!
Boeing puts his head in front of a fan and watches that scraggly hair blow. It saves millions in wind tunnel fees. And when the massive ear wax comes tumbling out it acts just as like a sea gull crashing into a Dreamliner!
As I understand it, that nasty head of hair cannot be replicated anywhere on the planet. So SC was bound to win Boeing!

Not for nothing but isn’t he Boeing’s lobbyist? I mean he – or his firm – deserves SOME credit, right (afterall he only stated that he had a “leadership role,” a claim that appears to be fairly accurate)? Ease up on the snark, this is starting to read like Gawker. Anyways it’s good news, no matter who is responsible. Glad to see we got it.

Why don’t you write a post in regards to Larry Grooms trying to take credit for the Boeing deal – http://twitter.com/Grooms4SCGov/status/5241101817
Let’s try and be a little more fair and balanced next time

Actually I think Drake did have a lot to do with it. I’m not saying he should get all the credit but he was actually working on it while our governor was writing book reviews.
