More “Sic” Exposure Coming …
Frankly, we’ve had an “elegant sufficiency” of ourselves around here … and we’ve certainly had a “superfluity” of our attention-starved founding editor, Sic Willie.
Of course as FITS has taken a more prominent role in framing the political debate in South Carolina, the scrutiny surrounding our “brain child” has escalated – which is certainly understandable.
None of us take that personally – least of all Sic, who has been clinically diagnosed with a rare (and incurable) case of “Look-at-me syndrome.”
Seriously, people. We get what’s going on here.
We carry a big stick, and we’ve never given “two bits” who we piss off in wielding it.
That makes some very powerful people very angry, and this is them fighting back.
Anyway, the latest attempt to check our influence is a website called “What The Folks?,” which purports to “expose” a rather lengthy list of entities and individuals who are allegedly paying our founding editor.
In fact, the website claims that $80,000 of Sic Willie’s “dirty money” has already been exposed, although its anonymous authors doesn’t reveal how they arrived at that figure – or identify who paid it.
Nor do they explain why we haven’t received any of it.
Of course we were alerted last week that What The Folks? is merely a precursor to a much more sinister website, which we have now learned is to be entitled Who The Folks? …
Just as What The Folks? purports to expose Sic Willie professionally, Who The Folks? purports to expose his personal life, specifically Sic’s “multiple lovers, ’sextortion’ plots and the orgies and threesomes he conceals from his battered wife,” according to a recent email we received from an anonymous address.
We’re also told that whoever is behind Who The Folks? has obtained public records on Sic Willie (and members of his family) dating back to the early 1990’s.
Wow … this is gonna be fun!

If I recall correctly, the main journalism questions are “Who, What & Why”. It sounds like they’ve got two of the three; I’ll just wait for ‘Why the Folks’, and then have all three NOT to visit.

Fits knows very well that he could easily have one of his “lawyers” file a “John Doe” lawsuit, and then issue the appropriate subpoenas to the internet hosting services where this stuff has been appearing, in order to determine the identity of the individual in question. But then again, why would he do that to himself.

JD-
Yeah, we’ve collected all this information on ourselves in order to discredit ourselves.
The site(s) has thusfar been very careful not to cross the line against Sic, of course crossing the line against a public figure is very difficult to do.

Fits, it’s true, you have indeed been careful in trying not to cross the line against yourself. But I do think you have the elements of a prima facie case of defamation, which would be a case on its face in the absence of a defense. And you most likely could even withstand a summary judgement motion, as I doubt that it could be successfully argued that there are no material facts in question, and that you are not entitled to judgment as a matter of law. I know that you and your lawyers could make the case that you have been a victim of defamation, which is defined as a defamatory statement concerning you, published by a third party which understands the statement’s defamatory nature, which has resulted in damage to your reputation. In summary, you have been the recipient of more than enough “dirt” to file the “John Doe” lawsuit, and to get those subpoenas out to the web hosts and get this individual’s identity. But I hate to be a party pooper. I really don’t want to see you “out” yourself. I would much rather you put your energy into making “What the Folks?” and “Who the Folks?” the best possible sites that they can be.

Will,
The new site is not aimed at you, but at someone that will be mentioned in an “off handed way”.
You are not be the target, just convenient. At least, that is what I hear. The “boy in DC” plays all sides of the fence. Friend one day, foe the next.

Win or lose, be sure to appeal the court decision, Sic. I want to be there when Jean Toal has to face you in her Star Chamber.

Oh, there is what’s called right-of-reply that pretty much negates any defamation suits.
Keep replying, FITS.
I think you’re in dreamland as far as taking the GOP back to its Goldwater-Rockefellow past.
But I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to speak as a socially liberal, fiscally conservative Democrat.

Could it be? The Boys From Charlotte? BIN News “broke” the story that the “Boys From Charlotte” were keeping up with sic(k) willie over a year ago.
Actually, it was our Funding Editor who “broke wind” after reading one of sic(k) willie’s moronic posts. It smelted like sic(k) willie.
Actually, “The Boys From Charlotte” came to our Funding Editor in a dream after a Metamucil overdose.
She loves her evening cocktail. Three ounces of Metamucil and a triple shot of Jack, Crown, or anything brown.

All that $80k is in my pockets. I have been ‘fronting’ as Sic and taken the money and running. Thanks!

Well, they didn’t post my comments on their site. Atleast Sic Willie let’s everyone’s voice be heard on his site.
