A small market radio newsman, talk show host and, yes, a blogger. I have always held up my positions and have always done more fact checking that most. Even the sheriff out there. It's the 24-hour news cycle that's done the damage. In the rush to beat some imagined competition, that's what is making this happen more and more. It answers the question put in a Daily Show bit at The New York Times, when Jason Jones asked, "Why is aged news better?" The aging process, holding off and taking a day to make sure you have what you have and it's right, enhances the bouquet and "truthiness" of the news. I can't stand agenda driven stuff, but I also consider a newspaper's website more of a "broadcast" medium, which to me never had standards, than a "print" medium. There' snothing wrong with the standards. Plenty wrong with being arrogant about 'em, particularly if you aren't practicing what you preach.
