RINO Rep. Annette Young – one of the State House’s most liberal “Republicrats” and a woman whose affinity for white label scotch is legendary in Palmetto political circles – has drawn a 2010 GOP primary opponent.
Dorchester (S.C.) County Councilman Larry Hargett announced his intention to run for Young’s seat last week, citing the inability of lawmakers in Columbia to “balance a budget and keep expenses low,” according to the Charleston Post and Courier.
Young – who is currently serving her 10th term in Columbia – has brushed aside primary opponents in the past with relative ease.
We also have no clue yet as to whether Hargett is a legitimate fiscal conservative or yet another one of these Podunk, big government mouth breathers posing as a reformer.
We’ll see.
Of course it stands to reason that anyone would be an improvement over Young, who has been reliable vote (and more importantly, vote-herder) for RINO House Speaker Bobby Harrell and his “center-left” governing coalition of Democrats and fiscally irresponsible Republicans.

Larry Hargett is a big government guy. He voted last year for a 33% pay raise for himself on council and numerous times has voted to increase local property taxes. Although Annette has voted to spend a good bit of money, she’s never voted for a tax increase.

Is Larry Hargett that guy from Dallas?

I assume he will be HEAVILY backed by money from a certain New York City Libertarian, but will be running on a campaign to protect OUR best interests?
…but Rep. Young will be the hypocritical RINO in the race.
