CNN: Wilson Doled Out Big Bucks To Promote Outburst

you lie joe wilson

U.S. Rep. Addison Graves “Joe” Wilson spent nearly a quarter of a million dollars in an effort to capitalize on his infamous “you lie” outburst, according to an analysis of the Congressman’s campaign filings conducted by CNN.

Wilson and his Democratic challenger, Rob Miller, have raised a combined $4.4 million for their 2010 race – most of following Wilson’s high profile outburst during President Barack Obama’s early September address to a joint session of the U.S. Congress.

From the CNN report, by Peter Hamby:

On Sept. 14, Wilson’s campaign doled out $52,250 to the Virginia-based digital communications firm Active Engagement for web design and online advertising. On Sept. 16, the campaign paid $42,400 to retain the David All Group — a Washington-based Republican new media firm — to help boost Wilson’s profile on Twitter and other social networking sites.

Piryx, a firm that processes online donations, received $72,007 from the campaign in September. Wilson’s team also spent nearly $30,000 to rent a mailing list from the Richard Norman Company, a conservative fundraising organization in northern Virginia.

All told, the Wilson campaign spent roughly $235,000 on services related to fundraising and communications strategy.

Campaign disclosures show that the campaign owes another $157,424 to the David All Group and $65,633 to the Richard Norman Group.

Wilson defeated Miller 54%-46% in 2008, although polling done in the days following his outburst showed Miller with a slim lead.

Our Funding Editor was in her LazyBoy this morning sipping her morning Metamucil laced bloody-mary while reviewing sic(k) willie’s analysis of the Joe Wilson vs. Miller fight.

She expects a total TKO by Joe.

    Miller is toast.

BTW. Her LazyBoy is named Juan. Now don’t go stereotyping.

Juan is a blue eyes blond 68 year old retired Norwegian Navy officer who thinks Miller is cute. He likes Robbie’s tossed hair and bucktooth smile.

But, Juan also likes older women, and he dearly loves our Funding Editor.

Wait, there’s a point in here somewhere, isn’t there?

What story are you going to tell us next, that Henry McMaster pays money to advertise on this site so that people know he’s running for Governor?

Good for Joe Wilson – a small investment makes a huge fundraiser. Beats direct mail any day.

Thanks for giving us vaguely useless polling information over a year out from the General, that’s the value added to CNN’s work that makes it so worth coming to this site.

Here is another poll: Wilson wins by 10 points. Come back and see which one is more relevant come November 2010.

    Hint: Neither.

If people understood Joe, he’d be history but people in this state seem to have closed ears and minds.
It’s gonna cost em dearly too.

    sic(k) willie,

Our Funding Editor wants to know, who is Mullins McLeod? He’s advertising on your blog, but no one has a clue who he is. Is he a Howie voucher pimp?

Or is he just someone wasting advertising money? Do you really think he has a chance of being guber’nator? Or are you just taking his money?

    Just wondering.

No one loves Joe Wilson more than Joe Wilson. I wonder how long he rehearsed in front of the mirror to get his fierce expression and voice down just right. He knows how to promote himself. Can anyone name anything he has done for the people of his district expect spend time in front of the C span camera making self serving speeches after Congress has adjourned? He is quite the entertainer, but we need a legislator.

Could have saved him some money. Manufacturers of RoachStomp feature a “lost cockroach” of the month. Wilson could have had his village idiot look plastered all over the world for free. With a little luck someone will stomp the crap out of this cockroach before he enables more cockroaches such as his “son” Little Cisco Cockroach Bauer whom he mentored like a “father” during the Little Cockroach’s first run for the House.

So Joe is dumb. Really? His campaign fund has increased almost 10 fold since his outburst. Commonman, you have 5 minutes to name what ANY of this state’s members of the US House have done for the people of their districts. OK, time’s up.
