Seventeen And A Half?
The University of South Carolina football team will be a 17.5 point underdog when it travels to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday to take on Nick Saban and the second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.
Wait … seventeen-and-a-half points?
Isn’t USC ranked or something? And in the SEC?
Yeah …
Apparently, the historical mediocrity of head coach Steve Spurrier’s (Shame) (Lame) Gamecocks’ (and USC’s tendency to choke in big games) has colored the impressions of the odds makers. Or maybe it’s the fact that Carolina has accumulated a 6-12 record over the last three seasons in games played after October 15 …
Who knows …
All we wanna know is which national tragedy Saban will invoke in the unlikely event his team is defeated on Saturday?
And remember, he’s already wasted 9/11 on Louisiana-Monroe …
UPDATE: In related Gamecocks news, USC running back Jarvis Giles will miss the Alabama game after being suspended by the school. Additionally, USC’s starting right guard, Heath Batchelor, abruptly left the team this week.

The bookmakers could care less who wins. They just want to come up with a spread that will get the money split evenly on both sides of the bet.

Chickens will choke! Alabama – 34 Chickens – 19
Alabama allows a couple of late Gamecock field goals to let the losers leave with what little dignity they have left.

GIles was suspended bc he skipped class. Kind of funny how he had a 3.0 or above first semester and now he cut class. It as one person said, USC is now 5-1 and now for the collapse.

Ok, lets go over who the lamecocks have beaten thus far this year. NC State they beat by 4, and they were destroyed by Duke. That’s right Duke. They beat Ole Miss but no one, not even the most diluted cocks fan, can say that they thought Ole Miss was good enough to be number 4. And Kentucky team who is probably the actual best team they have beaten this year. And of course they high school teams that everyone plays. Other than that they lost to a Georgia team who is, at best, in a rebuilding year. I can’t believe they are even ranked.
The reason why the shamecocks are so bad after Oct. 15th is because that is when they actually start playing their SEC schedule.
