Rewarding Hope In Lieu Of Change

obama nobel peace prize

Apparently rewarding hope in lieu of change, the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize has gone to President Barack Obama.

Now, that’s a mighty strange development considering that Obama, in his still-nascent presidency, simply hasn’t yet shown us much in the way of mad peace-making skills.  But what’s really curious is that Obama did whatever it is he did to earn the prize in less than two weeks.

You see, there is a February 1 deadline for Nobel Peace Prize nominations … meaning that the Nobel Committee considered Obama prize-worthy just two weeks into his term.  We don’t specifically remember those 12 or so days between Janurary 21 (the day Obama took office) and February 1, so maybe we’re missing something.  Surely something peace-y must have happened by way of Obama …

But then again, maybe not.  In explaining its choice, the Committee could hardly point to any concrete change brought by Obama. Apparently, mere hope for change is enough, these days, to merit the Nobel Peace Prize – a prize which, according to its founder, should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work” with regard to peace.  That directive points to the prize’s intended focus on results rather than aspirations … but hey, Alfred Nobel is so yesterday.

Anyway, congratulations to Barack Obama for winning the Nobel Peace Prize.  Now, go earn it …

I agree, this makes no sense and makes the process look like a joke.

It must be based on the number of times you appear on the cover of Time Mag.

I think it should have gone to Mark Sanford.

He found a piece in Argentina and brought our nations closer together.

Later, when confronted with his accomplishment, he was all bashful and embarrassed and shit . . . just the way I expected a man of his stature to act.

Maybe Mark didn’t find enough pieces in enough countries to justify an award, but it was still more than Obama did.

It’s the hopey-changey talk. He talked a great game. Can’t be anything else….cause he’s been campaigning instead of leading.

Having devalued the dollar to the amusement of Garrison Keillor’s Norsk cousins, we now devalue Alfred Noble’s legacy…

It is still possible to make like Jane Fonda and decline the award. Wouldn’t that upstage Bill Clinton?

Let’s face it folks, Obama ain’t no Mother Teresa!

Ronald Reagon brought down the Berlin Wall………….and didn’t get it.
But this chump does?… for what?

I agree. If you take a look at some of the others who could have been awarded this prize, you would be shocked to see that President Obama recieved it. The comittee has become a laughingstock. Even many liberals have said that it is ubsurd, which of course it is. Obama has done nothing that has led to greater peace, only greater animosity. Is it not ironic that North Korea launched a nuke AFTER he was elected President, and did not the somali pirates kidnap the crew of an american ship AFTER we elected somoene who ran his whole campaign on “Hope for Change”? What has America come to?

Barak was in and George was out. That’s reason enough.

I elaborate further. You Yanks do not feel the life shattering effects and impacts of your own foreign policies. It was oh so easy for you all to pledge your support for a war fought half a world away in Iraq knowing that it would never be fought on your own soil. How fun it was for you to watch the ‘Shock and Awe’ on T.V. while waiting for the Simpsons to come on. Just for a moment ponder if you would have supported that same war if it was to be fought at home? If ‘Shock and Awe’ was to come to every city in America? Would you be in favor of war then? No need to respond. I already know the answer. The Peace Prize was given out of relief by those far closer to the Barbarism unleashed by your government and without filters screening out the archaic destruction and the inhumanity of unnecessary human suffering. Barak Obama brought hope. But most importantly he brought relief. No more will a careless monster unwield its mighty force with such wreckless abandon. You just don’t get it.

You don’t get it. You wouldn’t even be here to comment if it weren’t for the “Yanks”. Your Island would be part of Deutchland.

DAVE: “Just for a moment ponder if you would have supported that same war if it was to be fought at home?”

If we have a war at home it will be with the UN-loving pinkos running the government. I imagine you will be hiding behind Obama’s HOPE and CHANGE.
The rest of us will be “clinging to our guns and religion”.

Obama is right when he says he does not deserve to be in the company of others who won. Most of them dont. Peace prize is for peace. Obama has done nothing but cause continued conflict on the people to benefit the bankers and liars.

When they picked Obama as winner, he was el presidente for one month. That alone shows it was in the bag and a farse. All creibility for this award is out the window, as if it already wasn’t.

The Council on Foreign Relations is an American entity but run by foreigners and communist sympathizer Americans. See what they say about it:

If I say I’m for demilitarization and promise to change the fundamental ideas of our democracy, can I get it next year? Pretty please?

Dear Retrobate and Martha Washington:

Thank you for your insightful feedback on my comment. Its obvious I hit a soft spot. Did’nt realized you bruised so easily. Here, let me get a you each a band-aid.

Retrobate, please don’t tell me this is the best you can do? All you did was regurgitate a line that’s been used a billion times before. Tell me, are you smarter than a 5th grader? Your cliche did nothing to change my mind however. The Nobel commitee gave Obama the prize out of relief that the U.S. did’nt elect another ‘Bible waving, Gun carrying Wack job’ I know you might be dissappointed but I’m sure your country is full of whack jobs, so please do not give up hope that another one won’t be returning to the White House.

Martha, I hope your little rant helped. You seem to be carrying around a lot of hostility and anger. Have you tried counselling?
You seem to have an extreme dislike for the color red. Do you like Unions? No – because they are based on Pinko principles right? The vary same principles that gave birth to the ‘United’ States of America. Kinda like a ‘United Steel Wokers of America’ thing is’nt it. ‘United we stand, Divided we fall’. Have you heard that one before? Britain in its Capitalistic ways found it quite financialy beneficial to outsource production to the peons living in the 13 Colonies back in the day. The peons pinkos lead by Brother George Washington did’nt like getting pissed on so the he rallied the brothers in the 13 colonies to form a Union then and went out on strike. Many were hesitant to join the Union. They were called Unpatriotic and Anti-American. Some of the more angry union brothers through Tea into a harbour. Violence ensued. Back in Britain there was constant talk of how Unions were destroying the Empire. They were pee’d off at the pinko commies (can you blame them???). However, the commies eventuallly won and went on to form the Socialist state called the ‘United States of America’.
So Martha, the moral of the story is, “Are you a Pinko, or are you Anti-American?”

Well people, I guess Dave told us. After all he lives in the land of ultimate freedom. Why he’s free to be robbed, mugged, and have his wife and children raped as long as he doesn’t defend himself. He can’t enter sections on Jolly ol’ because he’s not Muslim and he doesn’t want to offend those poor peaceful citizens that have demanded a separate legal system. So guys, next time Jolly ol’ has an issue, well I think we should continue to stick up for her if only to piss off Dave.

By reprobate on October 11th, 2009 at 2:10 am

Dave, that was a stupid rant.

By Dave on October 11th, 2009 at 10:57 am

Rick, spoken like a true Commie Pinko. Captain Pink George Washington would be proud. May I remind you that if it was’nt for the Frech coming to save your ass you’d all be speaking English right now. Not American English. Proper English. The Queen’s English.

Re: rapings and being mugged. Through in Lynchings, overcrowded jail systems, an embarrassingly pathetic Health Care System, a broken down electoral process, a corrupt banking system and a National I.Q. average less than 60 then you’ve got the ultimate land of the free where you’re free to be ignorant and not even aware that you are. Only in America you say. Hip! Hip! and all that. By y’all. And it’s Football, not ‘Soccer’.

By Dave on October 11th, 2009 at 11:21 am

Reprobate:

Are you a Commie Pinko? Tell me where I am wrong in my ’stupid rant’? Tell me the Colonies did not Unionism to to form a united front to rise up against a Capitalistic opressor? Tell me those who refused to join the Union were not called ‘Unpatriotic?’ Tell me this American tradition has not carried on to this very day where the oppressed band together by and form a Union to rise up against a Capitalistic opressor? Tell me there is not a great public resntment expressed towards Unionisation because of their Socialist Principles. These same principles on which your Nation was founded. Show me where I am wrong. The truth is you can’t. Spin it anyway you want and the bottle will always point towards the simple fact that your Founding Fathers were Commie Pinkos who formed a Union of united States to battle against a Capitalistic Pig. End of story.
