McLeod Files, Where’s Drake? Rex?
Charleston attorney Mullins McLeod became the second Democratic gubernatorial candidate to show his latest fund-raising hand, announcing Thursday that he had raised over $210,000 during the three month quarter that ran from July to September.
McLeod’s campaign also announced that it had roughly $320,000 on hand.
A little over a week ago, Democratic front-runner Vincent Sheheen – a State Senator from Camden, S.C. – announced that he had hit the $700,000 mark in contributions. Last quarter, Sheheen reported receiving $506,000 in contributions with $460,000 on hand.
Obviously, Democrats and Republicans alike will be keeping a keen eye on the fund-raising totals posted by liberal lobbyist Dwight Drake, who announced his candidacy last month. Drake’s campaign is expected to be able to tap into a veritable bottomless pit of special interest money.
Political observers will also be keenly watching the numbers posted by State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex, whose anemic fund-raising totals and lackluster stump performances have many speculating as to whether or not his gubernatorial bid is for real.
Keep it tuned right here for the latest …

How much of this came from McLeod’s trust fund?

This guy looks to much like Paul Adams and Rick Quinn! That’s enough to make me not vote for him!

There is no rationale for Mullins McLeod running for governor.
There is a rationale for Sheheen, for Rex and for Drake…but McLeod is just kind of randomly there.
It would have made more sense for him to run for the 1st CD seat. But it just doesn’t make “sense” for him to run for governor.

I’m starting up a Neanderthal Action Committee to support Dwight Drake.
Anybody in South Carolina who is beetle-browed, paints on the walls of caves, or hunts animals with a club is encouraged to join.
We’re hoping to get the GEICO Cave Men to make a personal appearance in Columbia on behalf of Dwight. As soon as we get the go-ahead grunt from their people, we can provide a date.
We will prove that running South Carolina is so easy a cave man could do it.

MATT…….your DEAD ON with your take of “just kind of RANDOMLY there.” !!
Matter of fact …you could say that about any candidiate running in either PARTY…!?!?! Its kind of like when everyone is in a room but no one wants to admit they are the ONE who FARTED…!!! Everyone is just looking around winking and saying in low tones that it must have been the “OTHER GUY”..!!!!
What we want to see FITz is a MUG and bio of ever campaign advisor and manager…!?!? Who are these fine candidates listening too..!?! We see more action surrounding the Folly Road Palm Readers place of buisness than what is being reported across our state in our newspapers about our candidates…!!!! Heck, we know more about our car financing solutions from Gene Reed Toyota and Bob Bible Honda than we know about Mr. Mullin “Mullet” McLeod’s economic “vision” for OUR state…!!
We are sure that Mullin is a nice GUY..!!
We are sure he has brushed up on the LAW…!!
We are sure he would be better than Andre’….!!!
BUT, dag nab-it, has he STOOD UP for anything on a daily ..FOCUSED…unifying….and OPEN forum to let all SC residents see how he THINKS…..!?!?!
Has he been a commentor on this very insightful website…!?!?
Has he consistantly offered his “feeling” in the comment section of any paper in the state; so we can see for ourselves how he communicates with regular citizens….!?!?
Since this fine fellow is from Charleston …..just how many times has he called Mrs. Colleen Condon and told her about solutions to our LANDFILL problems that do NOT include METHANE Tapping scams…!?!?!
How many County Council meetings has he been too…..!?!?
Does he know that Mrs. Vida Miller is hiding Bio-DEISEL Fuel in her district and wont promote a SC business…..!?>!?!
We get more unity at a Carolina – CLEMSON – Citadel – SC State bake sale than ANY candidate running has displayed with any ONE issue …!!!
ANY one …issue !!!!
At least Mullins can display some passion for SOMETHING….but what would it be….!?!?! How would we know…!?! FITS, maybe you could also call up all the candidates WIVES and ask them some questions…..maybe we would get some PASSION then…!?!? Heck, Ol’ Mullins should get the GAL that used to help Johnny sell Suzuki cars here in the lowcountry……at least you knew that they both were passionate about something…!?!?
Does any candidate know the citizens are FED UP….!?!
Just what does MULLINS…..know…!?!? WE WANT TO KNOW..!!!
By a lot of money on October 8th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
$100K of that is McLeod’s own money…so really he only raised $110K. That dog won’t hunt.

Matt, with Sanford as the current Governor, most people look at themselves and say, “if that guy can get I elected, I can.”

Candidate McLeod…….
Just exactly what do you think about SCE&G.???? What do you know?

Thanks for NOT reporting that McLeod put up $100K of his own money to look competitive!
This guy is done.
Stick a fork in him.

Update:
Our Dwight Drake Neanderthal Action Committee has been busy adding up its latest contributions:
Three animal skins, a piece of flint to start a fire, and what looks like several clumps of dried feces to feed the fire.
Let’s keep up the good work, and don’t forget our revised political slogan:
“Dwight Drake for South Carolina: So Easy a Cave Man Could Screw It.”
