FITS Evening Post: Money, Bed Posts, Czars, Etc.

evening post

Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the FITS Evening Post, a collection of various articles that caught our eye during the day but for whatever reason didn’t make it on the website.  And no … we have no idea how that bird got on the post.

Tonight we take a look at currency, criminals, czars, mutual masturbation, a honeymoon, pharmheads, crabtrees, love nests and the surprising news that there is discord in the Middle East.

Really, there is.

Anyway, enjoy …

AMERICA

DOLLAR DOLLAR BILLS, Y’ALL: The U.S. dollar is hatin’ life, people.  Hatin’ life.  In fact, the dollar’s six-month slide has the rest of the world clamoring for a new international reserve currency.  Which means that America is about to be hatin’ it. (read)

CRIMINALS RUN THE COUNTRY: It used to be that criminals like U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel – a tax cheat with a list of ethical problems a mile long – got thrown in jail when they got caught.  In the “hope and change” world in which we live, they get handed the gavel of the House Ways & Means Committee instead.  Talk about “fixing” Washington! (read)

THE CZARS ARE ALRIGHT?:  According to “constitutional experts,” there’s apparently nothing wrong with President Barack Obama evading checks and balances (i.e the U.S. Senate confirmation process) and handing control of the country over to a bunch of leftist “czars …” so long as the distinction between “practical authority” and “legal authority” is “rigorously maintained.”  (read)

GOOD STUFF

THE FEELING “IS” MUTUAL: This is the now-infamously controversial column on “mutual masturbation” that forced the editor-in-chief of the Towson University student newspaper to resign her post.  We’re taking bets on whether or not our lovely Mande Wilkes wrote it.  (read)

OBAMA’S HONEYMOON OVER?: The Communist News Network says that Saturday Night Live’s skit on U.S. President Barack Obama marked the end of an era of good feelings … (read)

SOUTH CAROLINA

SANFORD VISITS PHARMACY:  S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford visited a pharmacy in Rock Hill, S.C. on Wednesday, but for none of the right reasons.  For example, did he pick up a prescription for his chronic narcissism?  What about his look-at-me syndrome?  Or diarrhea of the mouth?  Also, former and would-be S.C. Rep. Ralph Norman gets some “love” from the “Luv Gov” that he probably could have done without. (read)

WHAT THE FOLKS?:  Some anonymous individual or organization (receiving anonymous funding, obviously) claims to be the authority on exposing our founding editor’s vast right wing conspiracy.  Meanwhile, it’s all we can do on a daily basis to keep Sic from exposing himself. (read)

SPORTS

A PROBLEM IN (A) CRABTREE: So the San Franciso 49ers have finally signed first round wide received Michael Crabtree.  Of course he won’t play for at least two or three weeks, raising the question of whether or not the team will get anything out of him this year.  In this USA Today article, Crabtree’s holdout is viewed through the lens of previous NFL players who missed time over protracted contract negotiations. (read)

STAR STUFF

LETTERMAN’S LOVE NEST: It’s hard to dispute the “pimpfreshness” of a guy who has a love nest known as “the bunker” where he takes only the hottest underlings who work for him.  Then again, a man’s wife and family probably don’t rank dad’s “pimpfreshness” very high on their list. (read)

WORLD

SHOCKER:  Israelis and Palestinians are apparently having some trouble getting along.  We know, we know.  We couldn’t believe it, either … (read)

That’s a wrap for this evening.  If you’ve got an item for our consideration on either our main website or here on the FITS Evening Post, email us or visit our contact page.

    Sanford’s Vehicle Pulled for Speeding

Gov. Mark Sanford’s car for speeding this week, but let Sanford’s driver go without a ticket.

South Carolina Department of Public Safety Director Mark Keel on Wednesday confirmed the stop, which happened at around 3:30pm Tuesday.

Keel says Lance Cpl. R. S. Salter did not cite Sanford’s State Law Enforcement Division driver, but says a ticket now will be issued. Keel did not name the driver, or say why he wasn’t ticketed at the time.

In 2006, Sanford’s office was highly critical of the lieutenant governor when the Highway Patrol twice stopped him for speeding but did not issue tickets.
