obama health care

Just when you thought that U.S. President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine plan wasn’t going to be quite as socialist as advertised, along come “senior administration officials” to Bolshevik it up a bit.

Which as you’ll recall is their specialty.

You’ve heard of the “Midas Touch?”  Obama’s minions have the “Marxist Touch,” which when you think about it is sort of like the “Midas Touch” in reverse.

Anyway, from Monday’s edition of the Los Angeles Times:

Despite months of outward ambivalence about creating a government health insurance plan, the Obama White House has launched an intensifying behind-the-scenes campaign to get divided Senate Democrats to take up some version of the idea for a final vote in the coming weeks.

President Obama has cited a preference for the so-called public option. But faced with intense criticism over the summer, he strategically expressed openness to health cooperatives and other ways to offer consumers potentially more affordable alternatives to private health plans.

In the last week, however, senior administration officials have been holding private meetings almost daily at the Capitol with senior Democratic staff to discuss ways to include a version of the public plan in the healthcare bill that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to bring to the Senate floor this month, according to senior Democratic congressional aides.

Super sneaky!

Of course the truth is that either version of these abominations represents a descent into government-run health care – it’s just a question of how fast we get there.

It is always nice to see Obama getting caught talking out of both sides of his mouth, though …

I thought it was interesting how you changed the tallness of black vs. white.

Competition is more realistically called a “good thing”.

By larry on October 5th, 2009 at 8:31 am

Why not limit tort pay-offs and allow competition of insurance carriers amongst states?

Oh, that’s right, such a move wouldn’t expand government CONTROL of our lives.

By Toyota Kawaski on October 5th, 2009 at 8:42 am

Vice President Biden sure has a wide stance in that picture above.

By Skidmarks on October 5th, 2009 at 9:15 am

Thank you for recognizing that the President is a politician…not a liar per se.

I really don’t get “tort reform.” According to the CDC, medical malpractice kills 90,000 Americans a year. That’s about a million every ten years.

Shouldn’t medical persons be held more responsible for their actions, not less?

What is this picture supposed to be saying about health care? How does it relate to the article in anyway?

I think it is clear. These guys are taking the debate out of public view into a setting that is more appropriate for the type of tactics they plan to use. It is clear that there is not public support for a “public option” for insurance. This has already been determined at town halls and public forums. Instead of bringing ideas out into the public, they would rather hide in the bathroom to discuss. Certainly some Republicans have gotten into trouble in the bathroom. Wonder what is next for these guys?

Skidmarks,
Please give me the specific citation of the CDC study/stat you mentioned. It seems tragically high, if not erroneous. Thanks!

oh dear lord….5 minutes before BIN points out this was photo shopped.

Read the following polling and see if your assertion about no support for a public option holds up.

Still waiting, Skidmarks.

That poll is nearly four months old. In the world of public opinion, it is ancient history.

On a more important subject, why is Barry looking at Joe’s junk? And why does Joe appear to be flaunting it?

By sid on October 5th, 2009 at 5:25 pm

A more recent NBC poll (although still dated) indicates the public no longer supports the public option.

Pat!

Come on man (or woman or transgender individual)! That poll was taken by MSNBC (AKA ObamaTV) prior to the details and involved over 85% respondants who were Democrats. Good try my man (women or transgender individual)! You guys can keeep trying to pull the wool over our eyes with your contrived polls. That poll was as legitimate as polling the White House staff on their opinion (or using Acorn to assess public view). You are one funny guy (gal or transgender individual!)!

Perhaps Biden’s “wide stance” suggests a diagnosis of NPH (normal pressure hydrocephalus)…his dementia sure fits with the diagnosis…

By larry on October 6th, 2009 at 10:28 am

Still waiting, Skidmarks…I’m beginning to doubt the veracity of your claims…

By larry on October 6th, 2009 at 11:13 am

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Harvey!

Both are “girding their loins” as they prepare to micturate on the Constitution thay have already shredded…

By Red Bank Bar on October 7th, 2009 at 8:46 am

Skidmarks merely got the source wrong. The Institute of Medicine says up to 98k die each year from preventable medical mistakes.

The bottom line is Repugnants don’t want doctors held accountable for their actions. Doctors refuse to discipline their own.

Medmal costs have held steady at 2-3% of the healthcare “economy” for several years. The number of suits has gone down even in the face of rising numbers of malpractice events.

By sid on October 7th, 2009 at 12:56 pm

Actually, the IOM report says 44,000-98,000. That’s a pretty wide spread (or stance). The report has also been greatly criticized on scientific grounds. Bottom line is, nobody really knows how many deaths each year can be attributed to medical misadventure, but it is likely far lower than what the IOM report claims.
