Tebow’s Status Uncertain

tebow concussed

It’s been over a week since “the hit” and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has yet to retake the practice field.  Meanwhile, the Florida Gators still aren’t disclosing the extent of the injuries suffered by the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner nine days ago in Lexington, Kentucky.  A team trainer was supposed to brief the media last week regarding Tebow’s status, but that press conference never took place.

Tebow was leveled by Kentucky’s Taylor Wyndham during the third quarter of the top-ranked Gators’ 41-7 victory over the Wildcats on September 26, although the real damage occurred when his helmet struck teammate Marcus Gilbert’s leg as he came crashing to the ground.

Officially, Tebow suffered a “mild concussion.”

Here’s a video of the monstrous hit and its aftermath, set inexplicably to the tune of “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows” by Lesley Gore (she of “It’s My Party” fame) …

Wow.

There’s nothing “mild” about that, if you ask us.  Cute tune, though …

Obviously it was a clean hit, although a case can be made that Wyndham’s celebration was a bit excessive – particularly with Tebow laying there immobilized on the turf.

Fortunately for the Gators, they had a bye week last weekend – which gave Tebow time to mend.

Florida head coach Urban Meyer said on Monday that Tebow was no longer displaying post-concussion symptoms, was “feeling good” and “eating well,” but none of that means he’ll be green-lighted to practice anytime soon.  In fact, Meyer acknowledged that even if Tebow were cleared to play on Saturday, it would come after a week of missed practices.

So … will Tebow play on Saturday when the Gators put their national and SEC championship hopes on the line in Baton Rouge against No. 4 ranked LSU?

No one seems to know, although the speculation has been burning up football chat rooms across the county.

“Can Tim play quarterback at Florida against a very good defense without practicing, I don’t know that,” Meyer said Monday.

Fortunately for Tebow, that decision will be made by doctors looking closely at CT scans and other medical data, not coaches looking at on-field match-ups or various championship scenarios.

And fortunately for Tebow, that decision won’t be made by him – because he’d play in a heartbeat.

As much as the Gators – and frankly, Tigers – want to see Tebow suit up next week, it’s clear he suffered more than just a “mild” concussion.

Frankly, it looked a lot like a Grade III concussion to us, which according to generally accepted medical guidelines means that Tebow should sit for anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

He really didn’t have a concussion….he started his period on the field. Sand somehow found its way into his vagina and became infected. Urban is down there now, doing what he can to get it all out.

That must be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. He is one of best college football players of all time, and you’re right, that must be because he is a girl as you insinuate. Real class.

I don’t understand why he was still in the game. They flew him there separate from the rest of the team because he had a respiratory illness. Florida was winning 31 – 7 why risk him?

Why would anyone make such a stupid remark as Steve V’s? Tebow is a great player AND a great person. I am wishing him well.

Blondein Tally, I’m sorry someone dropped a house on your sister,(wicked witch of the west in case you don’t get that joke either) Its called humor, you may want to Google it. I am not ready to start blowing him just yet. He is good player and a nice guy. Apparently everyone else believes he can walk on water. I’m sure Eva Brown thought Hitler was a Great Person.
