ATL Housewives: Rubbernecking At Its Crassest

Confession time.

Back in the day, before The Learning Channel (TLC) and Bravo sold their souls to feed our culture’s expanding addiction to trashy drama, we would have probably never watched their programming – finding some way instead to locate a channel where we could stare at orbs like the ones pouring out of that “linger-apron.”

It’s the “boob tube,” after all – isn’t it?

So are Bravo and TLC really to blame?  Or are we?

Who knows.  But in the inexorable descent into classlessness and vapidity that is America, circa 2010, Kim – a.k.a. Kim Zolciak of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta – takes the cake, people.  Everything about this woman is 100% fake – right down to the snap-on wig she has meticulously maintained by some cross-dressing black dude.

Sheesh.

Anyway, Kim and the other four housewives basically spend all of their free time (which is all of their time) putting on lavishly gaudy social events where they debut their clothing lines, portraits or “dance” singles, like Kim’s “Don’t Be Tardy For The Party (Hooo-ooo-ooo, Hoo-ooo-ooo).”

Yeah … and surprise, surprise, but at every one of these clinger-infested soirees there is some drama between Kim and Sheree, or Kim and NeNe, or Sheree and NeNe.

Because those are their friggin’ names, people.

Seriously, this garbage makes MTV’s The Real World or The Hills look like Masterpiece Theater.

We suppose this ongoing societal descent into increasingly mindless levels of virtual rubbernecking is what happens when we, as a culture, turn over so much of our precious time to ex-cocktail waitresses at gentlemen’s clubs.

Oh, and when their boobs render us completely incapable of resisting the descent …
