Mannings Rule

eli and peyton

What a weekend to be a Manning!

Older brother Peyton’s four touchdown passes led the Indianapolis Colts to a 31-10 win over the defending NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals, moving the Colts to 3-0 on the season.  Meanwhile, younger brother Eli tossed two TD strikes in the New York Giants’ 24-0 shutout win over Tampa Bay, keeping the Giants perfect at 3-0.

For their efforts, New York and Indianapolis are now enjoying life atop the NFL power rankings.

The Giants – who started the season ranked behind Pittsburgh and New England – are currently ranked No. 1 in the latest  FOX and CBS power rankings.  New York is ranked No. 3 (behind the Baltimore and Indianapolis) in ESPN‘s power rankings.

Peyton and the Colts are ranked No. 2 in the ESPN and CBS rankings, No. 3 according to FOX.  Not bad for a team still waiting to get healthy.

Individually, Peyton currently ranks second in the NFL with a 117.7 passer rating, with Eli right behind him at No. 3 with a 104.1 rating.

Along with the Colts and Giants, the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets are all 3-0 – with the Jets reaching their undefeated mark using rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez.

On the bottom end of the NFL totem pole, the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans are all winless after three games.

Please write an article about how bad the Panthers are. Be sure to mention that they’d be better off with Perez Hilton at quarterback and that Julius Peppers is the most overrated player in the NFL.

So exactly what is Manning’s Rule?

(Come on, fix that apostrophe – you’re better than that!)

Spy- As much as you might take us for suckers, we are not taking the Ravens no matter how many points Vegas gives them.

As for you, Dear Laura, touche. Although in our defense, “Manning’s Rule” is that drawing a midget running back from San Diego in the first round of the playoffs means your season is over!

Sic – glad to see you “fixed” the apostrophe. However, if what you’re trying to say is that the Mannings (i.e., Peyton and Eli) actually rule, there should be no apostrophe at all – it’s just a plain ole plural, not a plural possessive. C’mon!! This is a Greenville News caliber mistake!
