Other than catching up on the weekend’s college football scores, we’re not sure anybody actually bothers to read La Socialista (a.k.a. The State newspaper) anymore …

It’s what we like to call “dead wood” media … or “dead in the water” media, in La Socialista’s case.

Still, that doesn’t mean that in between publishing thinly-veiled commercials for liberal causes the paper’s reporters don’t occasionally get it right once in awhile.

In that spirit, we’d like to send “shout outs” today to John O’Connor of The State and Jim Davenport of the Associated Press, both of whom were honored by the Washington Post as South Carolina’s top two political reporters (present company excluded, obviously).

For his part, O’Connor took his award with a measure of self-deprecation.

“The source material is so good, I’d have to be an idiot to screw it up,” O’Connor told FITS.

True that, true that …

S.C. Governor Mark Sanford (a.k.a. the “Luv Gov”) may be scaring businesses away from South Carolina like it was his job, but he’s pure gold when it come to keeping the old and new media in business.
