“Obama Loves The Little Children”
A New Jersey school was placed under temporary lock-down Thursday after a YouTube video of children effusively praising President Barack Obama sparked a national uproar.
The incident occurred at B. Bernice Young Elementary School, where children were taught to sing “we honor your great plans” and other such nonsense.
From FOX News:
Video of the students at the Burlington, N.J., school shows them singing songs seemingly overflowing with campaign slogans and praise for “Barack Hussein Obama,” repeatedly chanting the president’s name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his “great plans” to “make this country’s economy No. 1 again.”
One song that the children were taught quotes directly from the spiritual “Jesus Loves the Little Children,” though Jesus’ name is replaced with Obama’s: “He said red, yellow, black or white/All are equal in his sight. Barack Hussein Obama.”
And here’s the video clip …
Yikes …

Can you imagine the outrage had this been a republican president they sang about??
By Rick on September 25th, 2009 at 7:37 am
Get them young and you never have to worry. Think Lenin,Hitler, PolPot, all loved the little children. Yea, I know, I’m just a paranoid bonehead. Call it whatever you will, its still indoctrination.

By the way, background music at the end of the song….Battle Hymn of the Republic

Also think Ahmadinnerjacket, Castro, Che, Mao, Chavez, all love the little children as well. And they all love their brother Obama too.

Don’t worry, Funny. No school children have ever sung about a Republican president. And no doubt will never have cause to.

Let me get this straight. School officials felt elementary-age students were in enough danger to lockdown the school after Fox news incited citizens? Fox news viewers were enraged after watching a virtually unintelligible video of the children singing? Fox news gave viewers a transcript of the song, and the lyrics were objectionable because they praised the United States president? Viewers were also enraged because the tune ( I didn’t hear a tune) is the same tune as “Jesus loves the Little Children”? This was enough to provoke viewers into threatening school children? Please, please tell me I misunderstood this story.

Think about the Children! The children, people!
All jokes at the expense of conspiracy theorists and Pol Pot analogists aside, this is just idiotic. But hey, it’s New Jersey, go figure.
By Propaganda on September 25th, 2009 at 10:11 am
So if this had been 2 years ago and these kids were singing about President Bush there would have been NO protest??
Dems and EVERY TV station in the US would have decried “propaganda”, “brainwashing”, and “why waste school/tax payer time for such an event”?
Yet now the media is silent…. wow

What has happened to us? We’re America! I would expect to see this in North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba…. When did we descend to that level? Very very creepy. Very very sad.

Well, heck, South Carolina just needs to balance things out. Why don’t we get one of our segregationist academies,(e.g. Jefferson Davis Academy) or so-called “Christian” schools, (e.g. Bob Jones Academy) to array all there WASP Republican children together and joyously sing “You’re the Devil in Disquise” while playing overlay tapes of Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck in the background?

Obama is no diffrent than Bush, the war machine is still moving, we still torture the Patriot Act is still in tact and people can be held indefinitely without trial.

the author went to Harvard with Obama, wrote “I Obama” a childrens book about the life of the Dear Leader. Propaganda/Conditioning well, you decide. And Pat, your right its New Jersey and the last I checked its in the United States of America where we don’t sing songs to our elected leadership.

More disturbing is the fact that only a small portion of the population makes such a pulic outcry as this when children are molested, raped, or murdered. Politics have to be involved.
How did our country decline to its current state? Allegiance to parties and public figures and movements all of sorts. Nationalism, racism, secularism, and a million more “-isms.”
Labeling people as nutjob conspiracy theorists, RINOS, Bleeding Heart Liberals, etc.
Running political smear campaigns, ie proposing a “hit list” for a governor you work for to rid him of political rivals through a smear campaign. Abandoning personal ideals and beliefs for a “slice of the proverbial pie.”
A sign of how far our country has declined is the protest staged by 100+ anarchists yesterday at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh. If they’re out of hiding, it’s getting bad. At least they got the AP to report what was being discussed behind the closed doors of the summit. Read it, scary stuff.
Before you post retorts about those crazy anarchists, read Butler Shaffer’s article “What Is Anarchy?” at Lew Rockwell.com. I’m not promoting ANYTHING here except that our allegiances to so many things political, including anarchy, is the prime reason our country, and the world, exists in its present condition.
I’m thankful for this website in that one can express practically anything and the articles are usually par excellence, but god knows you’d best have a tough skin if you’re gonna express yourself here. Furthermore, I do support the crux of what Sic is trying to acheive. He is, at least, brave and unafraid and willing to play as dirty as those he reports on. It’s necessary.
Really just saying “we the people” need to hold our government to higher standards of responsibility and show as much tolerance to each other as we do politicians and public figures and that, indeed, this video is disturbing. So now Obama is a religious and spiritual figure? Yikes.

Yeah, Jersey is the United States, and yes, this was stupid. But it’s not the equivalent of Mao or Pol Pot. To equivocate the two is beyond silly.
The outrage du jour schtick is pretty tiring.
If you’re going to outraged about something being creepy, be outraged about those Ameri-trade commercials. Yikes.

interesting thread – at first I was shocked – but at least we are in a country where one CAN be dismayed when idolatry gets out of hand, and teachers who are entrusted with the education of our kids, pervert the training with political commentary. Nah, it’s not Hitler-esque. But it is something partisan that should more appropriately not idolize the man, but the office, the thing he is chartered to protect: the Constitution. But this silliness is not new. As a Kid I was told to write President Johnson to thank him for protecting america from the North Vietnamese. In 3rd grade the teacher taught us how Nixon was our savior going to China. And neither brainwashed me. I think people need to get a life when they overdo it and declare this the beginning of the end… Anarchists? Laura, hate to tell you – anarchist have been running around actively for centuries – and in the US. And frankly your constitution protects their freedom of speech like yours. And that’s coming from a guy who protected this country for 29 years….
I must say, there is alot of emo and irony on this blog, but hey, Bill of Rights in action! The Constitution Loves the little children….

But am I surprised? From what I can gather this is not new for liberals.
The children were repeatedly singing the praises of Obama in a worshipping fashion.

Don’t misunderstand. I’d be right there with them if I could. There are many issues they support that I firmly believe in. I do believe in leaders, just no RULERS. Some are too violent, but that’s in any organization. Perhaps I should have stated they are receiving more news coverage than usual. Dozens were arrested today. Also, I personally have a hard time signing onto any form of political movement or group.
Anarchy, as defined in the lewrockwell website, is as valid and worthy as any political movement.
As with the military, anarchists are willing to fight, go to jail, even die for what they believe in when peaceful demonstrating and petitioning aren’t enough. That’s admirable and worthy.

Yes, I’m the idiot. You are comparing a classroom of kids singing about Obama to the murderer of six million jews. You, sir, are in need of help. Not outpatient help. You need a team of people with heavy medications and a rubber room in the ready.
And what will happen when we have all this overheated rhetoric, this relentless drive to insanity?

These children are singing lyrics from “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, but with Barack Obama’s name instead. These children are singing lyrics from “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” but with Barack Obama’s name instead. How can you not see a problem with this? We can not pray in public schools but you do not see an issue with children singing songs about the president in this manner? Really? How can you not see a problem with this? Children are in school to learn about civics, arithmetic, history, phonics, etc… not to learn songs worshipping the president in this manner. These children are praising the president… the person… as if he is the only thing that can save them. As if Obama offers the only option for healthy change, not the government, not the republic, not the congress, nothing except Obama. How does that not sicken you?
It completely boggles my mind how you can think that this is OK. The blog you posted in regards to Bush (who I am by no means a huge fan of) has these lyrics:
Our country’s stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!
Where the children make mention of congress and FEMA in addition to president Bush. The song is from a musical known as Wildcat… how can you compare a song that was featured in a musical and the television show MASH to the Battle Hymn of the Republic and portions of Jesus Loves the Little Children? There is no comparison whatsoever. And in typical liberal fashion you change the topic to something that has no relevance to the topic we are arguing. What is wrong with you? I need medication? You need a reality check. I hope I have the pleasure of saying I told you so when all this garbage comes true…

By rick on September 26th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
No Pat, you’re not an idiot, just without any discernible standards. And Cooter….you’re right, color doesn’t matter. It’s those internal standards that are your moral compass, understanding right from wrong, knowing that killing an abortion protester is no better than killing an abortion doctor. Knowing that pedophilia under any circumstance is wrong, understanding that being nice to a criminal only empowers the criminal…ya know standards, those things that don’t matter in this day and age because everybody has right to do as they please with no personal responsibility attached. So no Pat, I don’t find worship of the President, any President to be acceptable under any circumstance. And while the children involved probably don’t even remember singing the songs, it just emboldens the criminal to step up the B/S next time. Ya know, since you da edumacated man that when youse allows for bad behavior, well it just gets worse. But hey what do I know, I’ve just been watching this kind of crap for near to 60 years and wonderin when ya’ll are going to wake up. Yep we can sing the praises of “DE ONE” but ya gonna rile up de folks fer singing a christmas song or sayin a prayer in school. Yep, makes sense to me.
By Laura Campbell on September 26th, 2009 at 11:23 pm
“Words are abstractions that never equate with what they are meant to describe.” Alfred Korzybski
Did the teacher mean “HE”, as in Jesus, or “HE”, as in Obama?
Regardless, poor choice of words & music. I personally do not want anyone teaching my child songs of praise for ANY person. A Thank You is appropriate, not songs of praise sang to a religous tune or any other tune.
Also, insanity has been in the mainstream forever. It’s just the hushed, quiet, truly dangerous insanity wrapped tightly in words of decadence. When fanatics are screaming hate and destruction, you can at least prepare for it and don’t have to guess at what people are feeling and are going to do.
Now, let’s get fanatical about some other issues. IF the proper evidence is there, ie a videotape from a hospital with a child stuck to someone’s sexual organ or covered in cigarette burns, then put THEM on lockdown, as in locked down in prison or in the ground, in some cases. Don’t listen to me, folks, look at the statistics and evidence yourselves.
Too much focus is on politics and spin doctors. When the “crazy” anarchists or others become violent, after peaceful protests and petitioning on truly serious issues, it’s just awful. Where are the people screaming about child abuse? Education? What about the staff in our schools having sexual relations with our kids? Butt Ball in Anderson, folks?
Now go ahead and call me a crazy extremist. I understand the absolute importance of not starting witch hunts and solid evidence in these matters, but the best we can do is get zealous about a song and politics? Cops can beat the crap out of protesters, but not lay one on child molesters they catch in the act?
As a footnote, people are so disturbed by Obama because he bailed out the status quo and cannot realize people want jobs, not welfare, if they can work. Does he not have the ability to sanction those who sold out our jobs to people he, and others, are telling us are the bad guys? Why isn’t he speaking of auditing the Federal Reserve? He’ not speaking about issues lots of people want to hear. More political rhetoric. The pop-star image he created for himself doesn’t help.
Independent and middle-of-the-road is the best place to be. Focus on the truly disturbing issues no one wants to discuss and decide individually where you stand. You may end up being hated by most of the population, jailed, or worse, but it’s preferable to being lead around by the nose.
By Pat Hendrix on September 27th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
Chaz and Rick,
Please take a look at my earlier comments where I said that singing the song was “idiotic” and “stupid”. That not suffcient? Should I have called them “facist”? A comparison of the President of the United States with a mass murderer the only suffcient response, Rick? That the high “standard” your hope to achieve? Comparing preschoolers with Brown Shirt killers?
So no, Obviously I don’t think it was okay. My point was that it was 1) Not sanctioned by the Obama Adminstration, it was the product of some silly teacher in New Jersey. 2) Hence, it could not be conflated or compared with Pol Pot, Stalin, and Hitler – three leaders that were responsible for the murder of tens of millions. The comparison is absurd. And Rick, the remaining portions of your diatribe or so rambling and incomprehensible that I will not bother to address them.
By Rick on September 27th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
No Pat, its not obvious since everything you’ve ever written here shows that you have no center when it comes to defending “the one”. I didn’t compare preschoolers with anyone. You made that leap of logic. Silly teacher? Well, it’s good she’s retired since her ability to give critical thought was impaired so badly. And no Pat, the comparison isn’t there, just the knowledge of what happens within society when individuals are deified. Thanks Pat for not inflicting more of your endless drivel upon the readers….oh, and Pat, I’d have the dress washed before Michele finds out and whips your ass. Spit it out Boy….
By Pat Hendrix on September 27th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
Rick,
Very clever. I’ll try and keep the “drivel” off the board and elevate it with pole smoking references. By the way, and I don’t expect someone with reading comprehension problems to understand this, but I didn’t support TARP, the stimulus plan as it passed and the failure to pass substantive banking reform. In any event, I’m sure you’re missing Glenn Beck’s show about FEMA concentration camps. Follwing that you can get your weekly dose of birther news from Shaun Hannity. Good look in the wilderness.

i happened on this site awhile back when the sanford thing was hot…i’m not from your part of the country but i read the comments regularly on various issues reported here and now i just read thru the article/comments about the school in new jersey…i wish the people who oppose this would just take some time and think back to being a young kid in school…we were being taught that our country was great, therefore our president was great, etc….and there was nothing wrong with that…kids have no political idea, but they are learning to be proud of the country and to be proud of their leaders…when i read thru your comments i can see the “line drawn in the sand” mentality….win or lose…it’s only your country when your party is in power and when they’re not, there’s hell to pay…what happened to us being americans FIRST and then whatever party thereafter? i’m sick to death of people having no direct experience or knowledge of something and then just trashing the hell out of it because they were just brought up to be against it….the democrats have served the people well over the years and so have the republicans…both have had their problems, but we’re still a very resourceful country but the mentality is eroding into democrats VS republicans instead of what it’s suppose to be…support the country the best you can and if you don’t like it, then work for change….the working class people of this country have benefited very well from the efforts of the democrats and the UNIONS….40 hr work week, paid vacation, family leave, osha, social security, medicare, medicaid….maybe you don’t “like” all those programs but i bet you’ve benefited from a few of them….this country was/is in bad shape when our new president took over…he’s doing what he thinks is right…after the last eight years, i think we owe him more than 8 months to straighten it out….and just for the record, i’m an independent, but facts are facts whether you like them or not…the last eight years were nuts for more than 10 reasons…but let’s just stick with the finances….starting with reagan, there has only been one president who left office with a surplus…that was clinton….but that 1.2 trillon dollars that was wiped away in a ny minute for a tax break to the really rich…think about it when you want to just lash out at dems….they may spend and tax, but the repub’s spend and borrow…..why not try being an american first ok?
By Laura Campbell on September 27th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
With regard to the above post, I’m trying to be a decent human being first, without being self-centered, and with regard to spirituality. Allegiance to America and all else is secondary, especially the two-party system in need of a third one to balance them.
By rick on September 27th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
And Pat, to use your tactics…its Sean Hannity, but then again HuffPo and the rest aren’t where he writes so you wouldn’t know.
GC, if you had been around you’d know this isn’t Dem or Repub…its conservative over liberal/Progressive….and GC if the children were just learning about what a great country this is, there wouldn’t be a problem. But the problem is this wasn’t about how great America is…it’s about how great Obama is. And GC spending more money and increasing unfunded liabilities isn’t fixing a damn thing. Every social program this country has is broke and going broker by the day, and GC show me the jobs this man has created outside the expansion of government. I don’t expect him to have solved much of anything, but I did have expectations that he would a least act like he was fixing things…but no, its Americas bad, lets give money to banks, lets bail out our friends, lets give more money to Acorn, and just in case lets give money to Khaddafi’s kids since of course they’re not nearly the bandit their dad is….And GC, since the Government doesn’t make a profit to do all this….it means I have to support it whether I like it or not, and if not then I have clowns calling me a racist mobster from the extreme right. Well I’ve been called worse, but until you can show me one thing this clown has done to create a private sector job….well kiss my red ass. Hows that for being an American first?
