The cow thing is pretty funny. I doubt if they own cows. The Peelers were the 'processor' that took the raw milk from farmers, treated it, and boxed it up for sale. The processors are the ones that squeeze the family dairy farmer.

The Peelers have always seemed to be decent people. Bob Peeler should not have strayed from his wife but that happens in every strata.

Remember that "cow" brother Bob Peeler used to drag around behind his big ole red pickup truck? Heard the wife took a sledgehammer to it and the red truck when Bob ran off w/ the neighbor's wife after his failed election bid.

Now that's a cow picture I'd like to see.

I'm am sooooo tired of this "government is the problem" stuff. We can't have a modern society without strong effective public and private institutions. It is easy to find examples of inefficiency in government, and it is equally easy to see major failures in the private sector. The whole "markets are self-regulating" dogma that goes with "government is the problem" is a triumph of faith over reason and evidence. Meanwhile, people who love their Medicare are terrified that someone else will get government health care, farmers who adore their subsidies are enraged about welfare mothers, banking corporations that have been bailed out on a monstrous scale complain about attempts at regulation to prevent another meltdown, and private businesses that could not flourish without government-supplied infrastructure complain like mad about having to pay taxes. It is just tiresome.

Debate the specific issues on the evidence, and stop this "government is the problem" RINO name-calling. South Carolina's government is indeed very badly structured, and needs substantial reform. We also need to look at questions like why we're locking up (and paying to support) so many people who don't represent a danger to society at large. However, these are not reasons to do away with government, any more than the financial industry collapse due to a pay structure that rewards insane risk taking means we should do away with all private businesses.

Does Peeler receive any farm subsidies? In which if any government programs does he participate that bring $$ to him, whether he farms or not?

Just judging from those two photographs, the cow looks to be the sharper.

If I were casting for a barnyard oaf for a movie set in 1700s England or Ireland, my search would be ended.
