South Carolina’s Immigrant Slice Is Tiny

Remember in 2008 when South Carolina’s “GOP” leadership in the state legislature decided that pandering on the immigration issue was going to be the lynchpin of their annual campaign to keep everybody from focusing on their fiscal liberalism?

And remember how S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford basically joined the pander-fest (little did we know his affinity for Latinos at the time, right)?

No?

In case you forgot, here’s a link.

Well, for all that huff and bluster, it turns out that South Carolina’s “immigrant” population was only 4.3% in 2007, according to U.S. Census estimates.

Wait … 4.3%?

Sheesh, people … hope all that pandering was worth it.

Um yeah, like it’s feasible to ship all the illegals outta here. What a bunch of rednecks. We should just make sure they are paying their dues…

I nominate Maria Belen Chapur as First Lady Immigrant de La Adulteria.

If YOU were an illegal alien, would YOU actually fill out the U.S. Census form? The estimate is absurdly inaccurate! LULZ!

I lived from 2003-2005 right outside the metropolis of Saluda, SC.

The 4.3% number is comical.

I befriended an “undocumented worker” who confided to me one day…”your government says there are 30 million of us working here, but the actual number is more like 50 million…”

Honesty from the mouth of a Mexican national –who lived just a few blocks from the grave of Col. Travis…

Isn’t it ironic?

Yea, I really do think!

So wait, the GOP was fear mongering? I am shocked! I thought the nation of Mexico had moved en masse to Greenville based on what WORD said.

Watch out Mande, Sonja wants your crown as the queen mo of this website.

Quoting an Amick’s chicken-debeaker on Hispano demographics extrapolated from Saluda County, SC.

No, Sonja, you don’t think.

RED BANK–As demonstrated by the recent ACORN investigations, government institutions are particularly corruptable and unreliable.

I believe a better way to count the “undocumented” would be to register them at Wal Mart or in the ER waiting rooms. Seriously. what “undocumented worker” is gonna answer the door to the “work trailer” when the “census counters” are knocking?

Let me “confide” in you, sonja. You’re still a mo’.

“Government institutions are particularly corruptable and unreliable.” Let’s see, sonja, government institutions would include our military?

The FAA is corrupt and unreliable? Absent the Abu Gonzales and the Bushies, DOJ is corrupt?

The USPS in a quasi governmental instituion. It’s corrupt and unreliable?

Medicare is corrupt and unreliable? There may be a few corrupt doctors and hospital administrators but the system is very efficient and reliable.

The Supreme Court, well, no, bad example. Uncle Thomas and the Repugnants did steal the 2000 election.

By sonja on September 22nd, 2009 at 7:49 am

Yea, RBB.I suppose in your world ACORN is NOT corrupt. It is supposed to get 8.5 billion dollars of taxpayer’s monies.

And Yea, it “gets out the vote.”

As for the FAA,USPs,Medicare, the US Forestry Service, the DNR, etc., these organizations aren’t involved in “getting out the vote.” So I agree with you, I don’t consider them corrupt.

As for “stealing elections”, ACORN has actually been prosecuted for voter fraud. I’m not aware of the Supreme Court committing voting fraud, but, then again, I don’t live in your universe.

sonja, the mo’ that keeps on giving. You’re wrong again.

ACORN has never been prosecuted for voter fraud. In fact, you and the rest of your propeller-beanie Repugnant Party crowd cannot cite a single instance of voter fraud. Frankly, because it doesn’t exist or is so rare as to be virtually non-existant.

Paying a contract laborer per name to register folks is not and has never been voter fraud. Registering “Mickey Mouse” may be voter registration fraud but there is NO EVIDENCE Mickey Mouse ever voted.

Go back in your hole, sonja, before you embarass your momma again with your stupidity.
