i’m not canadian, and not even “yankee”, but you’re fighting a losing argument there. cutting through the fancy language, all you’re saying is “we didn’t invent it, so i hate it.” odd for a xenophobe to call someone a redneck. i get it, you don’t like complicated things. perhaps it’s best for you to stick to liking a sport where no one has to think, all the plays are called by someone standing on the sidelines, and action only happens for about 15 minutes a game.

@Toyota, are you suggesting that preseason should only be played at 50% of full capacity? I thought preseason games were used by the coaching staff to evaluate not only potential rookies but also veteran players to determine their pecking order for the beginning of the coming season? I also thought that Calgary had an all new coaching staff and that they pretty much overhauled their team this past summer and that the GM said that everyone from rookies to veterans would be competing to not only make this team but for ice time as well? Are you one of those cute little American ‘hockey’ fans that thinks they know what they’re talking about? Awww, thats so nice… then I guess you don’t know what a good hard, hockey hit looks like. Have a peek at the video embedded in this article and you’ll see what a really good use of the body looks like. Also, you’ll see what hockey players are taught from the time they are very small (9 or 10 years old)…. Never…. ever….. ever….. ever….. ever….. ever….. ever….. ever (you getting the point yet?) skate with your head down. Especially, skating with your head down in the neutral zone (that’s the ice surface in between the blue lines). Okposo was reminded of that. I certainly hope he’ll be fine and it seems he received a mild concussion which is very unfortunate, but to wish that someone Marty McSorley’s Dion Phaneuf is just… well, that just shows a 3 year old mentality. Oh, Calgary won that game too. At the time of the hit it was 3-1 for the Islanders. Not only was the hit a huge one, it was a pretty effective motivation tool for the Flames and a very effective distraction for the Islanders.
