“You Lie” Lampooned On SNL

You just knew it was coming …

U.S. Rep. Addison Graves “Joe” Wilson was lampooned on a special Thursday evening prime time edition of Saturday Night Live for his infamous “you lie” outburst at President Barack Obama.

The spoof begins with a group of actors-as-Republicans gathering prior to Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress last week and agreeing to yell “you lie” en masse at President Barack Obama.

Wilson, who was played by actor Will Forte, was portrayed as a frenzied, over-caffeinated bumpkin who just happened to be in the bathroom when the Republican Caucus leaders decided to chicken out on their idea.

“So we’re agreed, no one’s going to say it,” one of the GOP leaders remarks before the group departs to hear Obama’s speech, a message Wilson obviously didn’t get.

We’re trying to track down the video (we did, see below), but the skit was friggin’ hilarious, people.

After the outburst the fictitious Caucus then reconvenes to do damage control, with a panicked Wilson receiving assurance from his comrades while he laments that he’s “not known for anything but this.”

“It’s okay Joe, where are you from?” Wilson is asked.

“South Carolina,” Wilson responds, to audible groans.

The group then remarked that at least Wilson isn’t from Mississippi.

Wilson is then asked if there are any causes he supports, to which he sheepishly responds, “protecting the Confederate flag.”

Several other skits that followed also made fun of Wilson.

Update: Here’s the video …

I wanna watch! Send out a link, please. I haven’t had teevee for two years so I need a link to YouTube. I know it must be good. Ol’ Joe deserves every moment of notoriety he gets from his shout-out.

One muffled phrase exposed the lie of hundreds of obamacare infomercials, teleprompter readings, and union inflicted astro-turf rallies?

Strong work Colonel Wilson – true patriots have your back.

Colonel Wilson? Do you really believe this clown tin soldier is a military man of any repute? Are you kidding me? If someone yelled fire, he would be the first to trample the old ladies and children trying to get out of the room.

Once again, a SC Republican has placed this state on national tv! Too bad it wsn’t for anything good! I am a voting resident of Lexington County… Ron Miller has my vote. Get this CLOWN out of office. It doesn’t represent me!

And his son needs to run his own race. Keep standing up for your dad, you’ll find yourself at home like he will come Nov. 2010!

What is wrong with the republican party? You all have lost your heads – well at least one of you is using the WRONG head!

Hey Tough Girl, Wilson doesn’t like your kind. He voted against same sex marriage! You may want to toss your vote to Miller.

“We’re trying to track down the video (we did, see below), but the skit was friggin’ hilarious, people.”

“People, pick up your Number 2 pencils.”

“People, look under your chairs and get out your geography books.”

    “Quiet down, people.”

Is there some reason why your readers must be routinely addressed as “people,” as if you were a high school football coach teaching a subject he doesn’t know ratshit about in one of this state’s impaired school districts?
