Let’s face it people, South Carolina was in desperate need of a good headline – and thanks to 200 employees at a Boeing plant in North Charleston, it got finally got one.
From Reuters:
Workers at a Boeing Co plant in South Carolina voted on Thursday to decertify the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers as their union.
Robert Wood, a representative for the machinists, said in an email that 68 voted in favor of union representation, while 200 voted to decertify the union at the Charleston plant that was formerly owned by Vought Aircraft Industries.
Awww, yeah baby! “Right to work” is how we roll up in this beeyatch!

The best news I’ve heard all week! Watch those Boeing profits rise!

With the Democrats’ “card check” bill, that means the vote was open and not secret, right? This means that 200 people’s homes, cars, and other property are going to be vandalized daily by union goons, right?

@ Mickey,
All you have to do is google “Federal card check” or “employee free choice act”, and you’ll see that the bill has not passed. It’s not that difficult.

Wow! Good to hear! Go Boeing workers!

No, we kicked the union out because we paid them dues and they didn’t do a thing for us. Rep. Joe Wilson gave us our desperately needed headline.
By ReeGre1 September 11, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Oh, yeah. Mickey Blue Eyes, don’t worry. The 200 people who voted against the union made no secret about their beliefs. We don’t worry about union goons. We’re against unions, and in favor of the Second Amendment.

Hope this news gets to that San Fransico left coast liberal HO Nancy Pelosi, causing her face to twist up like it did when Joe Wilson called a spade a spade.

Hey Seymour
With many of their other plants unionized do you really expect Boeing’s profits to rise more because it’s Charleston plant is now non-Union. You must be a Boeing shareholder and as such believe that worker’s well being should be depressed in order for you to reap higher stock value.

“Just another Joe” looks like Karl Marx.

Pretty astute observation there Bill. No it is from a portrait of dude name Ignatius from the 1880s. I have no clue about Ignatius’ ideology. My use of his image as my online avatar predates my using it here on FITS News. I don’t acknowledge old Karl as being someone I would follow, however, I am pretty sure he would have enjoyed the universality and socialistic nature of the Internet. BTW at least I have a avatar where is yours, or does that blank generic avatar matches your own ideology?

I had the misfortune of working in Florida, another one of your southern “right to work for less” states. A superintendent on a construction site told me the first time he ever voted he voted “right to work”. He said he regretted it, as wages were on a downhill slide ever since.
I don’t know what it is about southern states. From what I saw it looked like the people were so used to the slave holder mentality that they missed the part where they became the slaves. As far as I’m concerned a working man rejecting a union is like a drunk with a headache rejecting aspirin ’cause it’s “Satans’ Poison”.

We need to get past the “right to work” phrase, wich is a great thing and move on to “RIGHT TO KNOW”.Does anyone really know what UNION means.Well to me it means a Good Retirement And Good Benifits, and a better life for my family. To them NON UNION means more profit, more vacations BIGGER BONUSES.So needles to say but i am a union IRONWORKER , I WILL BUILD THIS NEW PLANT AND I WILL SUPPORT MY FAMILY WELL! AND I WILL RETIRE AT A MODERATE 55 YEARS OLD WITHE A FULL PENSION! All the while my non union brother ironworkers who dont know really what there missing are getting robbed of there lively hood.

To “dan.” ” . . . ironworkers who DONT (don’t) know what there (they’re) missing are getting robbed of THERE (their) LIVELY HOOD (livelyhood.
Maybe you could use some of that union money to go back to school and learn how to compose a letter with proper spelling. As it is, you let everybody see what an ignorant moron you are, thusly, awakening readers that your opinions are just as ignorant!
Boeing told the unions at Seattle where to go. They went on strike 18 times in six years. Now the Seattle plant is closing and moving to a union-free state. They won’t pay their employees low wages, but rather a good wage and benefits. I live in the South. Japan, Korea, and BMW — are building cars all over the South and taking GOOD care of their employees. I know. I live here in the South, and used to live in Minnesota. You can have your unions and the jerk-off democrats who are ruining Detroit.
Why do you think American-made steel is being made in Alabama instead of Cleavland?
Look what they did to Detroit. A drunk on an assembly line gets paid
$ 400.00 per day to screw on 6 lug nuts on with a hangover! No wonder they are in trouble. Boeing was wise enough to avoide that sort of mess.
