S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford has scheduled an “availability” at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) Thursday afternoon to “shed light on recent political developments,” according to a media advisory sent out this morning by his office.

Unknown at this point is whether this will be an actual “availability” – you know, where the governor is “available” to answer questions from the press – or yet another bitter, caustic and irrational soliloquy directed against the media and his political opponents.

Frankly, if it’s the latter, we would have appreciated it if Sanford’s office had just announced that it would be holding another “bitter, caustic and irrational soliloquy” Thursday afternoon.

Also, what exactly can Sanford say to “shed light” on this situation?

Well, other than finally acknowledging the fruitlessness of his incessant rationalizing … and hanging up his spurs.

Anyway, FITS will be there … and we’ll let you know what goes down.

Also, our buds at WSPA TV 7 in Spartanburg, S.C. will be streaming Sanford’s “availability” live on their website.  To watch, click here

Let’s hope he resigns and moves on since he has no support.

Does anyone know where I might be able to watch/hear this live online? I will not be at a TV even if a station carries it but I will be at a computer.
Thanks!

Will he be channeling God this afternoon?

Sanford’s got his lawyer talking and he (Sanford) said he was actually going to take/answer questions!

By so sick of sanfordgate on September 10th, 2009 at 4:03 pm

Instead of shedding light, he is trying to turn the lights out. The king of transparency is afraid to let light shine on the preliminary findings of the ethics commission. What a lying buffoon! His (and Butch’s) “this will circumvent due process argument” is such BS. A report (preliminary or final) doesn’t get him thrown out of office without a full trial and a chance to “present his side.” Oh, and the last time I checked, saying someone else robbed a bank, too is not a defense to robbing a bank yourself. Hey Mark, save us, the taxpayers, about $50,000.00 per day in expenses that it will cost to impeach you, and resign. It is time for Sanfordgate to end!

By MKinVA on September 10th, 2009 at 4:05 pm

Actually, the law doesn’t require the legislature to wait for an ethics report. They can impeach him with whatever evidence they want and it’s up to them to determine what the “crime” is. And if he says one more time he was only gone over a weekend, I’m going to scream. If I were Jenny, I would appear at one of his news conferences and beat him bloody with a Louisville Slugger in front of every one of those cameras. A weekend? He planned to be gone, down on one knee crying to his soulmate, for 10 days!!! And another thing, Who is paying Butch’s legal fees to defend the Governor?

Sanford just had a big TV news conference. His Attorney Butch (something) came on to explain his position. Sanford started babbling incoherently and became unraveled. He was suffering from schizophasia (word salad). He acted like he was on speed. He laughed at inappropriate times. He was confused. SOMEBODY Get the Hook. MSNBC carried the news conference. The title of this news conference was “I Just Wanted You To Know”. AND I just want him to GO!

Man,

I am tired of the Bsuer/Knotts people and their full time blogging. It turns people against you when it is so obvious. Chill.

Did you notice the pupil dilation when the camera went in for a close up?

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says he will use legal action if necessary to keep a preliminary state Ethics Commission report from being released to state legislators, many of whom have called for him to resign.

Yep… that’s the way to prove your innocence

Why can he NOT let his little light shine?

By owlvee on September 15th, 2009 at 10:13 am

Sanford is a THIEF and should be charged accordingly. He took money from me and the other residents of SC for illegal purposes. I think that is stealing and I am tempted to press charges myself since it was partially my monies that paid for his excursion.
