We’ve never represented the alleged victim in a celebrity rape case (duh, we’re not lawyers), but our guess is that Reno-based attorney Cal Dunlap has the right idea. Dunlap is representing Andrea McNulty, a former Nevada casino worker who claims that two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger raped her in 2008.
In a letter to Roethlisberger’s attorneys published Tuesday by the Reno Gazette-Journal, Dunlap says his client will drop her $440,000 suit against the quarterback if he admits what he (allegedly) did, apologizes for it and gives $100,000 to a domestic abuse nonprofit.
Wow. That’s genius!
Or maybe not. Maybe it’s standard operating procedure in cases like this. Like we said, we’re not lawyers.
Either way McNulty (who wasn’t asking for much money to begin with, honestly) is basically telling “Big Ben” that she doesn’t want his money, a move that will almost certainly help negate claims by Roethlisberger’s attorneys that she’s basically a lying golddigger.
Roethlisberger’s attorney’s didn’t take the deal, by the way.
After winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2004, Roethlisberger (whose name we HATE spelling) led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a win over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in his second season in 2005. He won his second Super Bowl following the 2008 season.

It’s about the money.

Right. She doesn’t want his money. Right.
So Ben says, “Look, honey. I’m sorry I raped you. I was wrong. Here’s a receipt showing I donated $100,000 to the Pittsburg Domestic Violence Prevention League (or some such organization)”.
Next up? Hello criminal complaint! Then a refiling of her civil suit…this time for a cool million!
Tell this s.k.a.n.k and her lawyer to tell their stories walking!

I wouldn’t call it “genius,” so much as “trying to save face.” Have you seen her (alleged) e-mail trail?
By Patrick Anthony September 9, 2009 at 2:05 pm
She gives rape victims a bad name. It is obvious from her email trail her intentions. She should be sued and sent to jail.

mistake: the referees led the steelers to victory. the seahawks were screwed over by the refs. again. the nfl is a stinking joke.

Your right…you are Confused…anyone who blames the Ref’s should maybe take up another sport…like…er…Polo…what a asshole some fans are.
Hope your watching again this year when the Steelers win #7..hopefully…agaist your team…ararararara…
By the way, I wouldn’t give this skank or her piece of Shi* Lawyer a dime.

confused….the refs didnt throw the pass…they didnt catch the pass. So if Holmes drops the pass then the Cardinals win the Super Bowl and Refs were fair? Great logic dude. Seahawks…???? Really? You are serious?
I think you are thinking of the Steelers 5th Super Bowl. Last year was their sixth. So many, I know its easy to get confused.
