Sieg Heil To The Obama Youth
We’ve got no problem with the current President of the United States (or any President of the United States, for that matter) talking to groups of American school children – even our own children – about the importance of hard work.
Clearly America doesn’t reward hard work any more – in fact, it penalizes it – but whatever. “Hard work” is still something American school children should be encouraged to do, even if government is all about incentivizing dependency and failure as opposed to innovation and competition.
That’s why if Barack Obama wants to give our kids a thirty- or sixty-second message about the importance of studying hard and reaching for their dreams – fine by us.
Of course that’s not what he wants to do, as evidenced by the “Cult of Personality” lesson manifesto that until recently accompanied Obama’s upcoming Tuesday speech to America’s school children. The manifesto – which called on students to come up with ways they could “help the President” – has since been replaced with a less Stalin-esque assignment, but the furor over Obama’s propaganda hasn’t cooled.
Why has this speech (and the since-pulled lesson plan) sparked such outrage?
Simple.
Tens of millions of people simply don’t trust Obama. And they sure as hell don’t trust him around their children.
And Obama isn’t exactly helping to allay those fears, either. For example, the White House is refusing to release the text of the President’s “children’s speech” until Monday morning, which gives parents and teachers a limited amount of time to decide whether it’s something they want their children exposed to or not.
What will Obama say? Who knows, but at this point it has become clear that there are huge swaths of the American populace (not just the Town Hall “Brown Shirts”) who don’t want their kids to hear it.
And speaking of “Brown Shirts,” what exactly does Obama think he’s doing with this little bit of mass communicado?
America is rejecting his health care proposals loudly and vocally – does he really think a “go tell Mommy and Daddy that change is important” sort of talk is going to shift the political dynamic?
Joseph Goebbels is blushing, people.
Obama’s spokespersons claim his speech isn’t propaganda, but the fact that so many Americans are convinced it is propaganda should tell you something. It’s further proof that all the hope and change “The One” was selling this time last year has been replaced by fear and mistrust – and rightfully so.
Bottom line?
Every school in America should make Obama’s speech optional viewing for individual children based on their parent’s wishes. And in the event parents wish to keep their kids at home that day, every school in America should excuse those absences.
Also, to be fair, every school in America ought to air a speech about hard work from Texas Rep. Ron Paul – or another politician who has actually supported policies that encourage it.

The people trying to use mind control are the right-wing media. The poor gullible folks who listen and follow so blindly are being manipulated. I would say all of the teabaggers and others act rather than truly think and examine the issues. They scare me more than having the president speak to kids about working hard and getting good grades.

The heck with a Democrat from modest beginnings who overcame many obstacles and achieved the highest office in the land largely through his own efforts talking about the importance of hard work. I have a better idea. Why don’t we have Republican Governor Mark Sanford talk to the children of SC about how he overcame poverty and lack of social position enroute to a governorship which has come to exemplify family values, truthfulness, trust, achievement, empathy for the less fortunate, responsibility, humility, and lack of hypocrisy.

please.
as much as many might like it to be true, obama is not a commie-pinko-nazi-socialist.
it is not propaganda to simply ask childrens’ thoughts on how to better america. here’s a guy who is bright, thoughtful and has essentially faced every hardship from being biracial in the 60’s, to being poor and, through sheer will, tenacity and hard work has risen to the highest office in the land, with a 5 million vote surplus.
the man simply wants everyone to be involved and he wants to impress upon youth to study hard, and, more importantly, TO THINK.
i suppose he would be better served to tell children how to spell “potato”, or, maybe, read to them “my pet goat”.
what a postering bunch of dolts.

Imagine then what 80 million, impressionable school children would be willing to do for Obama…

Yep, I agree with Gillion and pstuart…here’s a man who won’t release his original birth cert. but thats ok because a politician said so. …what I really want to know is what were his school grades, oh wait those are classified to…uhhhh how about his speech in which when asked about his knowledge and the people he’ll get his information from, why he said he’d get it from Van Jones, Cass Sunstein, oh wait, my bad…he actually said Warren Buffett or Paul Volker, damn this man has hidden so much and told so many lies I’m just confused as to what the truth is. Oh well, since I refuse to admit that my closest advisers are avowed communists, social radicals that support forced sterilization and men that idolize Hugo Chavez, why I think I’ll go take a nap and dream thoughts of Butterflys and Rainbows while I forget about my house payment or filling my gas tank……Cover my ears and sing lalalalalala.

Barry is really quite clever with this obvious bait-and-switch (although there likely was never any real bait to switch). He announces he wants to talk to the nation’s kids, but you can’t see what he’s gonna say. Those opposed to him go apoplectic, fearing some sort of socialistic indoctrination. He even chums the water with some vague directions for his union buddies that anyone already suspicious of him will go bonkers over. Come Monday, you are likely to see a pretty benign speech, which is likely what he planned all along. And when he reads it off the teleprompter to the kids, all will be fine. But now he can say, “See. The right-wing loons were wrong all along about this, and they’re just as wrong on Teddy-care (formally known as Obama-care).” And his radical left supporters (who are likely actually slightly to the right of him) will condemn all who questioned The One as simply so racist they were afraid to have their kids in the same room as a half-black President, even if it was just on TV. Bravo, Barry, bravo. Very well played, indeed.

Why would anyone dare question Obama’s motives?
After all, he did snort a lot of coke and inhaled a lot of pot.
He surrounds himself with such bright, passionate, fun-loving persons such as “Rev.” Wright, terrorist Bill Ayers, and former criminal/revolutionary/nutcase truther Van Jones.
Obama offends long-standing allies such as England and Israel, and fist-pumps dictators like Chavez and bows before Saudi kings.
You better insist that your children attend Obama’s sermon or Obama’s “people” may bite off an appendage.

Since when was it unamerican to hear the President? This is only slightly disguised racially motivated. NEVER has this type of behavior been seen. And it is not because he is a Dem. Look, I could not stand the idiot “W” Bush, and what I did listen to was obviously from a man who could not speak well. He was just plain stupid. But, I did not carry on about him, like we see now. A person I know was arrested and jailed because he held a sign yards and yards away from Bush’s plane. Now, people are acting just plain rude, crude, and are dangerous jerks, and they carry guns. Why in the devil would anyone, with half a brain, not want their children to hear a man asking them to study and do well. Will, stop keeping this insanity going.

So according to FITS this GOP teacher invites GOP and Democratic officials into her classroom to speak to students and she’s a hero.
Barack Obama joins Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush in delivering a national address to schoolchildren and he’s Goebbels????
Even though Reagan talked about tax cuts in his address and the elder Bush asked kids to write him and tell him how to implement his policies, while Obama’s telling kids to say in school, Obama uniquely is compared to a Nazi by FITS.
What’s the deal FITS, are you against kids staying in school unless its private schools with tuition paid for by tax money stolen by Howie Rich’s butt boys(and girls), or are you just so crazed defending Jenny Sanford’s honor that you’ve lost any semblance of rationality?

I don’t have a problem with Moms and Dads not wanting their kids to see it. But pulling their kids from class because they call themself Conservative (even though most don’t know what that means) and have hate in the heart…thats a problem.

The right wing has been afraid of people of color taking their places in society for awhile now. This is not new. Obama is a very exciting person, who wants the very best for all Americans. It is the right fringe that screams hatred and has become dangerous. I do not get Sid’s point. Am I sreaming Hatred? Do I represent myself as any particular color, or origin? I am stating a fact. These town halls have given us an awful representation of the fear and hate that is no longer hidden. Actually, I would like to see a little more reaction from the left. Dems just seem to politely take the abuse and keep on trying to get along. You folks that compare Obama to Hitler are degrading the millions of people that were killed by Hitler in WWII. Asking about the birth certificate just shows total ignorance. That has been researched to death. He was born in the US. People, get over this. He is the President. “Obama’s spokespersons claim his speech isn’t propaganda, but the fact that so many Americans are convinced it is propaganda should tell you something.”
This tells me that NO ONE has read the blinkin’ thing yet but there are all kinds of people out there who admit they have no idea what the 2-3 minute speech is about. They don’t know the text of the speech, no one has seen it AND they’re still screaming about fascism & using Nazism as a comparison, in spite of the fact that the format & tradition is based on Reagan, Bush 1 & 2 speeches to US students.
So with your advanced copy you project Goebbels as a comparison to a US President? Oh, that’s right-you don’t have an advance copy-no one does, but that doesn’t keep you from posting a picture of WW2 era Germany. “Sieg Heil to the Obama Youth?” Hmmmmm.
Nice touch.
What a wasted opportunity to focus on education, the failures of the current system, the moral bankruptcy of the teacher’s unions who SUPPORT Obama. Why not focus on the fact that if he wants to change this, he is going to have to unload the parasites who look to life long positions as educators, regardless of their students’ lack of achievement & poor outcomes? They need to bust the unions, reward teachers who achieve results, improve salaries for our committed educators, and like any other profession, get the ones out that have no business teaching.
But not a word about the state of education in this country.
The last election PROVED that this line of attack does nothing but solidify the base. It doesn’t bring in the independents, who are needed to win the election in 2012. And of course it goes right over the heads of our graduating seniors in this country, since 20% of them don’t even know who we fought in WW2, think that Columbus discovered America sometime after 1750, & 60% have no idea when the Civil War was fought let alone what it was about.
By Silence Dogood on September 5th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
Rick, the fact that Barack Obama already released his birth certificate and posted it on line (don’t take my word for it, go to snopes or factcheck.org) makes your claim seem foolish in the first instance. Nonetheless, despite the fact that the guy is too liberal for much of my taste – this anit-America movement from the right, wanting to withdraw from the U.S., not wanting to pay taxes, wanting to protect their children from the duly elected leader of the United States has got to stop – it is inadvertently making a lot of well educated conversative leaning people look like a buch of dumbass yokels as they become bunched together with bone heads such as yourself in the mind’s eye of the general public.

And you just justified the actions of that small segment of the American population who hates this President solely because he is African American…that same segment that believes he is a Muslim and believes he is not a citizen of the country that elected him in a landslide to the Presidency. FITSNews hates everything this President does…it even hates him, apparently. Why would anyone argue with the man who helped elect Mark Sanford Governor of South Carolina? There are clearly no better judges of an individual’s integrity, motivations, and political character.

Actually, I think you get my point, scooter. You just don’t like being exposed as a tool of The One. You said, “This is only slightly disguised racially motivated.” So, yes, you are claiming racism. You expose yourself even more when you parrot typical leftist drivel like, “The right wing has been afraid of people of color taking their places in society for awhile now.” I always find it amusing when leftists expose themselves as being more racist than the people they condemn. You state no facts, but promote tired left-wing propaganda.
As for your wish that Dems would not “politely take the abuse and keep on trying to get along,” that may be the funniest thing I’ve read here in a long time. Leftists have been running an organized, angry campaign against the right for, let’s see, at least 40-50 years. Probably more, but let’s at least start with the loons from the 60s. Today, they are organizing their operatives to counter the opposition from the people to Kennedy-care (formerly Obama-care).
Oh, and crazydick (formerly known as madcock), the cannibal reference was not based in racism, but the fact that one of the left’s operatives bit off the finger of a citizen who was protesting Kennedy-care. But nice try. I guess this doesn’t show you are stupid (although you likely are), but either dishonest for ignoring the obvious, or painfully unaware of current events. Which is it, crazydick?

Once again, more Republican BS. We need to fly some WWII era Germans and Jews in to speak televised to the entire US and tell us what it’s REALLY like to be under Nazi rule. After the Bush Dynasty, people are actually just now labeling people with that term?
George W. in the school reading to grammar school children, gets news about the World Trade Center, and does nothing. Rumsfeld, Cheney, hell let’s bring them back, they did such a great job with this country.
FITS, I understand Unfair and Imbalanced, that’s ANY media outlet, and yall usually actually cover things in a pretty fair and balanced manner, regardless of your motto. But you’re pushing the envelope on this one.
The Repubs are circling the drain and wish to carry anyone and everyone, including citizens, with them to their demise.
Until I hear something, just one positive thing, about Obama’s administration from this site, I will not take anything you state in your articles about politics seriously. I will read it, but will no longer seriously consider your opinions or “facts”.
FURTHERMORE, you still have not answered why Sheehen’s name appeared at the end of your article “Spratt Asked To Intervene In Solicitor Case”, but later disappeared as the day progressed. Could it be the mighty Sic just couldn’t get one up on Vince? Could you not find one thing to tag on him to assault his character? Could there really be someone in the political arena in SC without a single skeleton worthy of being pulled from his closet?
I know you could care less, your attitude, generally humorous and right on the money won’t let you, but Unfair and Imbalanced or not, if something of that nature happens again, I’ll boycott this site and pass the word along to others to do the same. There’s a fine line between unfair and imblanced and muckraking reporting.

I encourage everyone to read the Communist Manifesto and you will see the parallels to Obama’s “platform of the week” and the other hard-line leftist speeches given recently:
The 10 Pillars of Communism:
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
