Jakie Didn’t Get The Memo

shhhh

Just when everyone had stopped talking about the “Andre is gay” rumor, one of S.C. Lt. Governor Andre Bauer’s closest allies unleashed a no-holds-barred effort to defend the Lite Gov’s heterosexuality – and to pin the leak of the “gay” allegations on embattled S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford.

“I have known Andre since he was eight years old,” State Senator Jakie Knotts told CNN’s Peter Hamby. “Ain’t a homosexual bone in his body.”

That was just one of several media interviews Knotts conducted on the subject of Bauer’s sexual orientation – interviews a senior Bauer strategist told FITS were “way off message.”

In a two-page letter to his colleagues in the S.C. General Assembly on Wednesday, Knotts (a.k.a. Ol’ Knocky) blamed Sanford for starting the rumor about Bauer – which first appeared Monday on a national website that targets gay Republicans.

In defense of Knotts’ facts – if not his strategic sensibilities – sources have told FITS that Sanford’s team was “instrumental” in the leak against Bauer, who last week called on Sanford to step down in the wake of multiple scandals stemming from an admitted affair with his Argentine lover, Maria Belen Chapur.

Man, all morning long I have been hearing on the radio that Jakie Knotts says Andre Bauer is not gay.

Is this a joke? Did Sanford pay Knotts to say this? Are pharmaceuticals involved?

Whoever the Bauer camp is paying for this type of “strategy” should be dumped from the roof of the statehouse. Head first.

It is difficult to follow the logic of Senator Knotts.

Unless he has verifiable proof, this goes nowhere. The Governor is already up to his neck in accusations and this will not be the one that throws him over the top unless there is a SMOKING GUN. If there is no smoking gun, all the Senator has done is cheapen the other charges against Sanford, and thereby actually helps the Governor.

In any event, Knotts has propel the story speculating about Bauer’s gayness to the mainstream media, and to every churchgoer, Veteran, redneck deer hunting club, and Bob Joneser in the state. This, as they say, ain’t good.

I suspect Sanford is going nowhere on his own accord. To be impeached there will be a need for facts, and for people of credibility to speak intelligently on the issues. So far, we seem to be lacking in both.

I don’t care if he is gay or not, but damn the whole thing is funny.

The link below is to a hilarious piece on Bauer. I think the saying is when they start to ridicule you, your time is over. Well…

Whether Jakie has a strategy or not, remember, HE is the one who set the ball rolling on the “where is Sanford” story. At the very least, this story will put Mark and his plumbers on the defensive. Flinging dirt at others is their only option left, and maybe this will put a brake on it. Sanford has fallen down so much, that anything will stick on him.

What am I missing here, Knotts blasted out a letter with an unsubstantiated allegation (otherwise known as a smear), and Fits defends Knotts’ allegation as “facts”, because Fits’ unnamed sources told him so. Makes you wonder whether Andre really is gay, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I have known Andre since he was eight years old,” State Senator Jakie Knotts told CNN’s Peter Hamby. “Ain’t a homosexual bone in his body.”maybe not in his body but have any of Andre’s bones been in another guy?

By JR6784 on September 4th, 2009 at 1:11 pm

I don’t think Bauer has anything to do with this, it’s all Knotts. Besides, when I was in undergrad at Carolina (I graduated in 2007) I saw Andre at the Strom Thurmond center with hot sorority girls all the time. I don’t think he’s gay.

By SCFolly on September 4th, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Again, lets get the facts straight:

Andre Bauer was “outed” by Linda Ketner , a Democrat, in early June 2009, a full 3 weeks before the Sanford scandal broke.

Blogger Mike Rogers actually commented on Ketner’s allegations at the time (i.e., June): http://www.q-notes.com/2710/former-candidate-linda-ketner-outs-sc-republicans. Rogers is the one who “outed” Andre again last week.

Bauer himself addressed the gay rumor in the State newspaper on June 30, 2009. http://www.thestate.com/sanford/story/846572.html.

Therefore, unless Linda Ketner is one of Sanford’s so-called “plumbers” and she intentionally planted the story 3 weeks before Sanford was caught in Argentina in hopes that it would finally gain traction 2 months later, then Jakie’s story — which has not been challenged by FITS — is obviously baseless.

And didn’t his ex-wife start the gay rumor by alleging a gay affair in their divorce? Is she a “plumber” too?

Ain’t nothing wrong with Andre being gay, if he comes out of the closet and admits it .

If he wants to cover it up and pretend to be something he isnt , then he shouldn’t run for Governor.

Sanford tried to pretend he was a fiscal conservative tight wad, sleeping on couches in the office to save taxpayer money, and it turns out he is just another typical lying politician.

Come on out of the closet Andre.

By Patty on September 4th, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Jakie got the memo. He just could not read it.

By Strom's Daughter on September 4th, 2009 at 2:38 pm

Jakie himself would turn gay for a pile of barbecue.

He’d dive into that closet so fast, as long as there was a smoker in it.

“Put some barbecue sauce on that dick, and I’ll eat it.”

By Rylyn on September 4th, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Jakie still blames Sanford for making him spend the money out of his campaign slush fund when he had opposition in his last election. Someone needs to check into how Ol Knocky spends the money in his campaign account. There is no accountability in his “Ethics” report. He pays his credit cards with no explanation of what it is for other than “in district meetings” There hasn’t been that many “in district meetings” in Lexington County – all elected officials included in 20 years combined. Jakie is out for blood for anyone that supports anyone other than his good old boy politics. Not that what Sanford did was right but Jakie was the one that pushed the issue. Now I dare he doth protest too much for his pal Andre’. My thoughts are Andre’ would just as soon he keep his mouth shut and let this die down.

By Franklin on September 4th, 2009 at 6:31 pm

With all the talk about our Governor now our Lt. Governor, when do we start talking about our other elected officials? There most be more than just these two to talk about.

By Bill Garnett on September 5th, 2009 at 1:28 am

Even if South Carolinians were as enlightened and sophisticated as to ignore Bauer’s sexual orientation and focus on his qualifications, they would still have to take into account the possibility of him being open to blackmail if he maintains a closeted lifestyle. That is a large risk for someone opting for governor of a state.

Bauer needs to clear the air by either admitting he is gay or confronting allegations head on until they are resolved. South Carolinians deserve to have this matter settled.

Jakie Knotts aka “Boss Hog” is an unpleasant mouth breather. I wouldn’t trust anything he says.

By Mike on September 5th, 2009 at 3:48 pm

Tubbie Knotts obviously failed his logic 101 course in undergard, since he’s trying desperately to prove a negative. I just wish whatever “smoking gun” is out there would hurry up and pop on out so this madness could end…

By Jonny D on September 8th, 2009 at 9:51 am

you know ethel, I was thinking “Boss Hogg” myself, except that would be an insult to Boss Hogg.
