In one of the most lopsided online polls that we’ve ever commissioned, FITS readers really, really, really (really) want scandal-plagued S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford to stop invoking the name of the Almighty as he attempts to justify remaining in office.
In a widely-lampooned interview with the Washington Times on Tuesday, Sanford “went to the Jesus well” once again, saying that he wasn’t resigning because being governor is “what God wanted me to do with my life.”
Well, with a total of 538 votes cast (in less than 24 hours), 95% of FITS readers say that Sanford’s repeated religious references made them “want to vomit.” Only 5% said that the governor’s sudden religious fixation was “music to their virgin ears.”
Here’s a fuller version of our “Sistene Sanford” for your viewing pleasure (click to enlarge) …
Oh, and you can still vote in our poll by clicking here …
UPDATE: Lord have mercy, there are already “Sanford Sistene T-Shirts” for sale in the FITS store …

Marky, I will shave off that horrendous gray mop and cotton beard as depicted before our next rendezvous.

On the other hand, I hope he’s provoking Him

Great picture.
Sanford is more detached from reality than a propofol fueled Michael Jackson and more paranoid than Howard Hughes watching “Ice Station Zebra” on loop alone in a dark penthouse surrounded by Mormons.

What’s the over and under on MS and the Lord in this interview?

Is the governor trying to turn people into athiests?
By Strom's Daughter September 3, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Lindsey Graham is the “godfather” to one of Sanford’s kids?
Shouldn’t that be “fairy godmother”?
By PalmettoPulse September 3, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Small twig and berries don’t ya think?
By Jimbo September 3, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Maybe we(and especially Andre and Lindsey) shouldn’t be putting too much emphasis on the Bible, especially in SC politics???
Lev 20:13
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Ouch.

It would be an improvement if he would just stop invoking himself. “I… blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” GET BACK TO WORK!

Does all of this mean that sanfraud will not longer host his boys will be boys gathering for the republicrat faithful at his family farm?
By Manny September 4, 2009 at 8:50 am
Man, all morning long I have been hearing on the radio that Jakie Knotts says Andre Bauer is not gay.
Is this a joke? Did Sanford pay Knotts to say this? Are pharmaceuticals involved?
Whoever the Bauer camp is paying for this type of “strategy” should be dumped from the roof of the statehouse. Head first.
