jesus mark

If you were desperate to hear more about S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s close relationship with the Almighty, then today is your lucky day.

Jesus’ homeboy – who has spent the last week blowing your tax dollars on an “image reclamation” tour – actually stopped leaking dirt on his political opponents long enough Tuesday to sing another verse of “Nearer, My God, To Thee.”

From the Washington Times:

“I feel absolutely committed to the cause, to what God wanted me to do with my life,” he said in an interview. “I have got this blessing of being engaged in a fight for liberty, which is constantly being threatened.”

Uhh … dude … the only thing being “threatened” right now is the Guinness world record for invoking God in response to a sex scandal.

Sanford also claims in the interview that his deteriorating public support is a result of his efforts to change the status quo.

Huh?

Last time we checked, Sanford’s deteriorating public support was due to his lying and his inability to STFU.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Sanford spent six years paying lip service to evangelical voters – right up until the point where he got caught boinking his Argentine lover, Maria Belen Chapur.

Now all of a sudden he’s friggin’ Jimmy Swaggert …

Anyway, what’s your take on the governor’s latest “church talk?”

Mark Sanford's "Jesus Speak" Is ...

So basically by saying he told a “little white lie” he took back his apology. Just when I thought I had seen it all.

FITS, this was just one of your best! Thanks!

I thought the “baby Jesus” endorsement was requisite for any SC politician – i.e. Bob Jones endorsements. I’d like to find out where the Greenville county GOP is getting the money to finance routine “blow” and “tugs” for Bob Jones and its affiliates. But who can blame Bob Jones for diversifying? If I was running a school founded on hate and bigotry, I’d be looking to GOP leaders (now self-proclaimed libertarians) to keep SC stagnant as possible – much like Sanford has. Not inferring Sanford is racist (he’s too dumb to connect the dots on this one), but he IS a puppet. Here’s to Metallica
for preempting SC politics!

I guess he is hidding behind the shield? I don’t know. The thing that bothers me the most is, we will hear all the talk about Pres. Obama and how his policies will/have ruined this country (if that’s is what you believe). But not a d@mn thing will be said about how the repubs have ruin this state! It just kills me…

The louder your talk the more scrutinized people will be of your walk. He’s sooooo religious, he cheated, he stole, and denied this state of economic development!

Thanks Gubnor!

Do you think Letterman and others could kick SC back a few dollars for all the material Sanford is providing them?

By yarrrrr on September 2nd, 2009 at 2:18 pm

Well from anybody else I wouldn’t consider it a big deal, but he should be conscious that we don’t want to hear it from him anymore…

When did Andra Bauer start writing for Fits?

Mine eyes have seen the bulls*** of the lying of the Mark …

By CNSYD on September 2nd, 2009 at 2:26 pm

This is vintage Doug Coe of “The Family”. I am sure Cubby and the C Street crowd told him this would work. The message is very clear. If you oppose Sanford then you oppose God.

Was Maria a little white lie to Jenny too

By Todd on September 2nd, 2009 at 3:02 pm

Bill: Did you intentionally mis-spell Andre? This inquiring mind wants to know. If so, that was funny.

By Crocodile Tears on September 2nd, 2009 at 3:03 pm

Good Glory – Sanford has invoked the name of Jesus so early and often you’d think he was practicing to offer Ricky Bobby’s family dinner blessing. Can they not get that padded room ready any faster??

By HMMM on September 2nd, 2009 at 3:37 pm

If he really cared what God wanted for his life, maybe he’d have gone hiking.

By Dismayed on September 2nd, 2009 at 3:48 pm

Christian voters in South Carolina may have noticed by now that there is a big discrepancy between what they read in the Bible and Mr. Sanford’s amazing sense of personal entitlement. C Street has a lot of very bad theology to answer for.

By Strom's Daughter on September 2nd, 2009 at 4:17 pm

Did he pull it out and wank it during the interview?

Oh, wait . . . that’s Kristin Maguire’s version.

By SC Moderate on September 2nd, 2009 at 4:23 pm

Yet another example (to add to the infinite list) that Sanford is without a doubt, 110% delusional and certifiably nuts.

Sanford asks state universities for travel information

Now, the governor’s office is asking how state universities fly.

In a letters to several universities, including MUSC, USC and Clemson, Sanford’s chief legal counsel asks the universities for information about cost of travel, flight manifests, passenger information and more.

Sanford’s office would like that information in a week.

I’m sure Cindi thinks this all sounds swell. More junk from COS Cubby.

By Sammy on September 2nd, 2009 at 5:54 pm

I hope the Governor ask the universities, the colleges, the state agencies, and anyone else that is flying at MY expense.

A “blue ribbon panel”, consisting of some financial hard asses, ought to be created to see what the deal is. I mean…if you are flying on my dime I want to know, and I don’t give a damn who you are!

By Fred on September 2nd, 2009 at 6:09 pm

I wonder if Sanford has the balls to ask Andre about his flights on the state plane, and his non-disclosed flights on private jets?

By Strom's Daughter on September 2nd, 2009 at 6:36 pm

There’s obviously another civil war taking place in South Carolina.

Republican Gays vs. Republican Straights.

When the smoke clears, we’ll have another ball-less Democrat in the office — essentially, a Republican in drag.

By shiya on September 2nd, 2009 at 9:24 pm

Oh look, Sanford and company are now citing a convicted felon as a precedent for their travels.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for making a man like Governor Mark Sanford. From his stuttering to his perpetual hair part miss, I can get enough of this man – literally.

And thank you for making airplanes so that he could get all the way down here. (Oh, and thank you for making Smucker’s.;O)

Loving you more,
Adriana

Geez. Another crooked, lying politician hiding behind Jesus to excuse his sins in public office. He and Rod Blagojevich need to set up some Governors of Galilee ministry or something.

By Dudley on September 3rd, 2009 at 7:35 am

Sanford has an invisible friend who has told him he has a plan for him. And we are supposed to believe it. Why does God always just talk to the person in private? Why doesn’t God show us a whopping big miracle that Sanford is his chosen leader of the masses?

By Stop Pimpin My Jesus on September 3rd, 2009 at 8:33 am

If I remember the New Testament I’ve studied repeatedly, Jesus did hang with the bad crowd, but he didn’t condone their behavior and give them carte blanche for future irresponsible, unproductive behavior. Maybe some of these press-conference-having, September Vogue-appearing Sanfords need to reread that part about getting off the street corner and going into that upper room so they can focus on their own damn family which includes children who don’t need further humiliation!

Send lawyers, guns and money. But really, no big surprise that the Fits Faithful have dubbed Luv Guv the unforgiven, you say he talks too much. Well forget that. Keep fighting the good fight, Luv Guv, we salute you!

Sanford always invokes God, not Jesus.

Sanford is after all the reincarnation of King David, and Jesus was of King David’s lineage.
