It’s “back to the lab again” for U.S. President Barack Obama and his attempt to ram a socialized medicine proposal down the throats of the American people. After getting his ass handed to him on the issue for over a month now, Obama has decided to retool his strategy with … wait for it … another speech!
That’s right … Obama will address a joint session of the U.S. Politburo … err, Congress … on September 9 in an effort to “jump-start his health initiatives, which have gained a number of skeptics among lawmakers and the public,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
Um, that’s putting it politely.
After a week-long vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, Obama has returned to Washington D.C. to find that he is less popular with the American people than ever before. In fact, according to a new CNN poll, Obama’s approval rating is down to 53% – while today’s Rasmussen daily tracking poll has him at under 50%.
“The One?” Under 50%?
The Rasmussen numbers show that only28% of voters “strongly approve” of Obama’s job performance, while 40% now strongly disapprove. Meanwhile, both polls show Obama losing additional ground with independent voters. In the CNN poll, his independent support has dropped from 53% to 43% – in a month. And as bad as those numbers are, public support for his health care proposals is even weaker.
Remember, Obama enjoyed a 76% approval rating back in February.
So, in light of his deteriorating political position, what was Obama doing last night?
Yeah … “Hussein” was holding a dinner at the White House to celebrate the Muslim holy days of Ramadan, which last time we checked is celebrated by the people who are trying to blow us up.

What do you expect from a Muslim president. Wonder if he is making a pilgrimage to Mecca. I sure wish he would!
By nauseous September 2, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Look it up, George W. started these Muslim dinners. Which is even more disturbing, because it means Obama is adopting more of Bush’s ideas. That is what is really disturbing here, how much Obama and Bush are starting to look the same.
Does anyone suppose there is a Christmas tree up in Iraq at their capitol? Can I go to Egypt tomorrow, be given a business, not pay taxes for awhile, and when they’re due, sign business over to another family member? SC sure doesn’t have anything to offer in the way of jobs. Our politicos are too busy unzipping their pants. This is all sickening.
In the infamous words of Eastwood, “governments don’t live together, people do.” U.S. citizens had best start living and working together to get the scum running this nation, local, state, and nationwide out of their offices, or things are gonna get worse.
But, hell, who were we to vote for? “4-8 more years of the same McCain?” “I can Russia from my window Palin?” If you vote Independent, you may as well stay home it won’t count. What a horrible mess.

Any takers on how many lines in his speech will be devoted to tort reform – seeing as how that is the ONE legitimate method to cut unecessary medical costs?

yep

James, tort and regulatory are the two possible heavy hitters. Neither will be in play. No Bet from this old man.

A year ago, economists were debating if we were going to have another Great Depression. We can now see the end of the current recession thanks to President Obama.
As for our health care crisis: he will solve that as well.
As for socialism: the purpose of government is to provide that which we individually cannot. So, if you want to use the “s” word, then use it when referring to our police, fire, public education, highways, legal system, water and power, military, etc.
The truth is our current health care system has become so prohibitively expensive that we must have government control. If you don’t think so, then talk to someone who has a family member who has recently suffered cancer, heart disease or a stroke. Someone such as me.

This is so f-ing rediculous…. If his “proposal” (if that’s what you wanna call it, personall I prefer the term “Bull Sh*t”) passes then it’s gonna plunge us into a socialist society. I come from a country that’s run like that (Sweden) and you can see how “well” that’s working for them. When people start leaving this country I guess the phrase “Last Swede Takes The Flag” is going to become “The Last American Takes The Flag”.
I don’t about anyone’s negative input towards what I just said. It’s the truth and rude ludicris comments aren’t going to change my mind.
“If Guns Kill People Then….
-Pencils miss spel (intentional) words
-Cars Make People Drive Drunk
-Spoons made Rosie O’Donnell Fat”

Skiddy,
You are so right! I am so glad you recognize the brilliant genius of Obama! Those rabid, hate-filled right-winged terrorists are so blind to the truth!
Like Biden said earlier today, the recession is over– all thanks to Obama! Now it’s time to fix this healthcare mess: Obama is the one for the job, for sure! Let’s face it, he saved GM, didn’t he? Skiddy? I mean, sales were down 20% last month, despite the Cash for Clunker promotion. What a savior!
I really like the fact that Obama will have direct access to all of our banking records, don’t you, Skiddy! That means that evil rich capitalist pigs will have their money taken directly from their bank accounts–how cool is that!
The great part Obama is that now it’s cool to be a commie, again, right Skiddy? Soon Obama Youth will “re-educate” those hopelessly deluded capitalistic pigs, right? Skiddy? You with me this one?

Since when did the word “public” become a bad word? I attended public school for my entire life in K-12 and in college (undergraduate and graduate). Private schools and colleges exist alongside public schools and colleges and we have accepted this for generations as both have thrived. We all pay taxes to support many other “public” services. I for one am in favor of a strong “public” police force and a “public” fire department and a “public” 911 and EMS service. I can not imagine any American being ok with these being offered privately rather than publicly. How ironic is it that we have millions of uninsured in this country paying taxes to support “public” EMS services that are supposed to take them to a hospital that will not treat them because they have no healthcare insurance. This is a tax the uninsured are paying but without insurance what good is it?
The truth is that we all have some form of healthcare because we also accept the notion that anyone who shows up at a hospital emergency room is going to be treated whether they can afford it or not. The ER is the “public” healthcare option of last resort for the uninsured. This is not a smart use of the “public” money. It is the highest cost method of receiving care in the entire system and yet it is the only means we allow available because we will not agree to a “public” option to provide primary care service to the uninsured. If the Republicans hate “public” healthcare so much maybe the Democrats should call their bluff and see how bad they really hate it. Pass a bill denying healthcare to anyone without insurance or without the ability to pay in advance, period. My guess is after a few days of CNN, MSNBC and Fox News showing Americans dying outside of emergency rooms because they had no health insurance, the public option might not look so bad to everyone. This is America. Health insurance is a right not a privilege!

Brian/Skid,
Isn’t it interesting that the democrats haven’t addressed the issue of TORT REFORM?
If you Obamabots care so much about cost savings, why not address the obvious and include TORT REFORM?
Waiting…

Excuse me brian, show me in the Constitution the “right” to health insurance.
By medstudent September 4, 2009 at 11:53 am
rhem,
Tort reform is NOT the best way to control health care costs. It is another ploy by insurance companies to keep as much profit as they can. Rewards will be capped, but doctor’s insurance premiums won’t go down.
The SC General assembly passed a tort reform bill in 2005 that capped rewards in a medical malpractice case to $500,000. ($250,000 from the hospital and $250,000 from they physician) Guess what? Doctors premiums in this state have gone UP since then. Plaintiffs can’t receive as much from the insurance companies, and yet doctors are paying the insurance more than they were before. Where’s all that money going?
